So this weeks haul. To get it out of the way: Teen Titans Special was absolute trash. There is nothing more frustrating then seeing 3 characters getting good amount of development & becoming likable all flushed down the toilet because of hack writing. Damian suffers the worst proving Peter J. Tomasi is apparently the only person who gets his character (Ben Percy was fine but seemed a wee bit off) as now he up for extreme measures after the death of a civilian but supposedly murdering Black Mask & his goons. As for the new guys don't even bother getting attached to them as they're only featured in one page & one of them apparently dies in the first arc so they're basically disposable. With all the edgelord talk about "No more 2nd chances" or "Change the rules" these are no longer the Teen Titans they're a new Elite. I hope the people that bellyache over Ben Percy's run enjoy choking on this garbage for the next year. Asshats.
Anyway on to the better part of the week.
Flashwar continues to intensifies with Zoom's plans coming to a head & stuff gets crazier from there.
Sentry was a surprise for me. I'm one of those weirdos that likes Sentry (maybe more for his concept) so I was interested in his new book & sure enough Jeff Lemire does seem to be going in a right direction for the character here.
Marvel 2in1 was solid this week Doom seems to be returning to his villainous roots once more after the events of the Annual while seeing more of Rachne's motives behind this trip.
Bryan Hill's run on Detective started up & it's a pretty good start.
Man of Steel was alright as we're now winding down on what happened to Jon.....& yet I'll take whatever it'll be over what happened to Damian.
Multiple Man is......Weird. That might be a good thing as this mini seems to want to be chaotic. I'm just happy Jamie's alive again.....Maybe....I think?
Venom, Thor, & IC: Darkhawk were pretty strong this week but I don't have anything to really say about them.
Finally there's the MMPR's 25th anniversary one-shot. I thought this was pretty good. This does make me wish BOOM would make mini's for the other teams since I did like these expanded stories here.

I wonder just how Jon would have reacted to Damien in the TT special I wonder how ANYONE will react to Damien after this. & it just really irks me that Dick's team needs someone to spy on them yet doesn't even bother with this little hellion despite the fact that Bruce knows something up with him. Is it possible to consider this title a hate crime too since all the characters who got shit on are mixed races?......Too much? |

How worst was this to his past. yes Damian has killed before the problem is the development. See as Damian progressed through the Tomasi/Gleason Batman & Robin run he began to feel disgust & fear for murdering Henry Ducard & ultimately wanted to & tried to change. Since then while he hasn't shaken his superiority complex you still get the feeling that he did care for his fellow heroes & family. Here that spits in the last 8 years of development simply for the premise of this hackjob Teen-X-force. Denying criminals their rights & throwing them in a secret prison? Calling Dick Grayson (his brother) & his friends "hand me downs" so that he can make a "Better Titans"? Spitting on his Father's beliefs for the sake of avenging some Restuarant order we never knew? This isn't Damien, This is some jackass edgelord who never bothered to read about the character beyond a brief wikipedia article & "He's the asshole Robin". Christ from what I understand Ben Percy didn't like Damien but even he bothered to do some research & had a feel on his character more than Adam Glass (who basically just writes edgelord incoherent 90's trash with his previous writing credit being New 52 Suicide Squad). |
