Peter does meet Mr. Negative face to face. Peter makes fun of his man-bun.
The 'goons' were actually the civilians in the bank under Negative's influence. Don't know what happened to them afterwards, but they swarm over Peter and do some damage to his costume.
MJ's waiting for him when he comes home. She's concerned, but the two don't have a major bust-up or anything (though there's some tension when Peter mentions how icy she is with her sister Gayle), it's a nice, easy going grown-up conversation
We get a Flash Thompson reference! Peter mentions they got into a fight in Eighth Grade. Peter lost of course!
Peter tells MJ he doesn't want to hurt anyone, MJ tells him he's perfect for this job, Peter promises the family will flee town if things get too scary, MJ then suggests they 'fool around' but Peter has to see Ben afterwards at the memorial so he has to decline.
Peter and Ben then have their best conversation of the series so far (also one of their only conversations thus far), and yes, Ben has figured out Peter's identity. Jameson hasn't just yet. Peter asks Ben why he is standing up to Fisk and company, and Ben tells him someone has to take a stand in their own way because they're evil. As Peter walks away, Ben tells Peter he's fine with whatever comes next for him, he got to live a good life with the woman he loved, he asks if Peter can be so sure of that himself, and Peter says he can't at the moment.
