Kamen Rider Zi-O Discussion Thread

We open with Ohma Zi-O in some kind of huge battle (similar to the opening of Gaim) in 2068 where all the past Kamen Riders are defeated and disintegrate into dust. A large number of rebels are killed; Geiz and Tsukuyomi narrowly survive. It looks from this battle like Sougo is not Ohma Zi-O; we see him (as his present-day, 18-year-old self) frozen in time and disintegrating during the battle. We cut to Tsukuyomi in her time machine showing Sougo footage of this battle. She takes him back to meet the dinosaurs.

We go back further in time to before Sougo met her, where his classmates make fun of his stated career ambition to be a king. He finds Zi-O's Ride Watch but thinks nothing of it. Sougo talks further with his uncle about his desire to be a king. Whilst cycling home he is confronted by Woz (sp?) who congratulates him on gaining the power of the Ride Watch, and disappears. The Time Majin (piloted by Geiz) appears in front of him and Geiz tries to kill him, thinking that he is Ohma Zi-O. Geiz corners Sougo, but Tsukuyomi appears in her time machine and takes him to safety. We then go back to the start of the ep where she was explaining everything to him by showing him the battle.

Sougo gets chased by a T-Rex and Tsukuyomi realises they've gone too far back in time. She takes him to 1671 and they enjoy tea in the Edo era. Tsukuyomi explains that she is from 2068 which has been devastated by Ohma Zi-O, the King of Time. Most of the rebel forces were killed in the battle, and she and Geiz are among the few survivors. Geiz decided the only hope was to go back in time and kill Ohma Zi-O, who he thinks is Sougo. She tells him that he has gained incredible power from the Ride Watch and will now control the past, present and future. Kamen Rider Geiz appears, and Sougo ends up in 2017 where he lands near the Skywall. Kamen Riders Build and Cross-Z rescue him, and Sento and Ryuuga introduce themselves. They take Sougo back to nascita where Sougo learns he is in 2017. Tsukuyomi arrives and shoots at Sento, Ryuuga and Sougo who all fall unconscious.

Meanwhile, the Time Jacker kid (Wool? Uhr? IDK how we're spelling this) gives the Build Ride Watch to a baseball player, who uses it and becomes Another Build. He starts attacking random people and turning them into Fullbottles for his use. Sougo wakes up in the present day at his uncle's shop, but when he heads downstairs, Another Build is rampaging and attacking Sento's classmates. The Ride Watch falls out and he picks it up, realising that everything that happened with Tsukuyomi and Geiz wasn't a dream. Just as Another Build grabs him, Tsukuyomi arrives and fights back with her blaster. She tells Sougo again that he's going to be a king. Woz appears again, but Tsukuyomi doesn't know who he is. Woz says some mysterious stuff about Sougo now having the power to control time and rule the world. He gives Sougo the Zikuu Driver, and Sougo transforms for the first time. Woz declares him Kamen Rider Zi-O, the king who controls all of time.

Sougo defeats Another Build, restoring his victims to human form. But then Geiz shows up, still convinced Sougo is Ohma Zi-O; and transforms into Kamen Rider Geiz to battle him. He uses Geiz' Ghost form and sends the Parka Ghosts after Sougo. Next ep: Sento and Ryuuga return, Geiz and Sougo are apparently forced to team up, more Woz hijinks, Zi-O gains Build's powers

This didn't grip me - it's the least interesting first ep of any post-Decade show I've seen, even though there were a couple of those shows I went on to dislike. But it was fun and set up lots of plot beats and questions to be answered, I suppose that's as good a start as any
