I have been watching Ressha Sentai Toqger some time now and I am already watching the team-up movie, Toqger vs. Kyoryuger. But, what I don't get is this....why is Toqger like the only sentai series that is telling me that I am too old to be thinking about a kids' show in Japan?! Because that the kind of mentality that this show's execution is trying to present to me as a fan of Tokusatsu. I mean, sure there are other sentai shows that don't talk down to its' target demographic and then you have other sentai shows like Zyursnger that are basically trying insult the intelligence of its' target demographic by telling them that their favorite heroes are incompetent and that the child characters are better than the main heroes. But this show?! I am not sure if it's me, but I think Toqger is like the only sentai series that really hates adults and would rather be seen as just another dumb kids' show. And I don't think that is fair for those who are fans of this show, regardless of what their age is.
But what do you think? Is Toqger basically telling me that I am just "too old to be thinking about a kids' show in Japan" or do I just not consider myself to be identified as a fan of this particukar sentai series in general because of all the pandering to little kids and trains?
Let me know...

...What are you even talking about?
Just because the show did something different by having the adult characters actually be children doesn't mean they hate adults.

Just because the show did something different by having the adult characters actually be children doesn't mean they hate adults. That's it!!! That's the reason why I have been acting so negative about Toqger during my binge-watching. I just don't like the ideas of the adult characters acting like they're still childten, when in reality...they should've just stuck with the heroes being little kids who can turn into a sentai team while remaining in their child forms. Just like the Beetleborgs. Thanks for the understanding, PowerKamenSentai.

But they are really little kids? They weren't adults acting like children?

^ Unfortunately. I agree with Xman, turning kids in to adults is disturbing and adult superhero genre should be separate from kid superhero genre. That's why I consider ToQGer the worst Sentai ever created.

I don't see how it's "disturbing". And sentai rangers are usually adults, this one just had a plot twist revolving around that. Just because the show did something different by having the adult characters actually be children doesn't mean they hate adults. I just don't like the ideas of the adult characters acting like they're still childten, They acted like children because they were children.

^ How isn't it disturbing? Sentai is a franchise about adult superheroes so it's both misleading and wrong to suddenly make them kids in adult bodies as a backstory. Kids should look like kids. Plot twists should be fun and interesting, not creepy.

Unless there was an orgy scene how was it creepy?

Plot twists should be fun and interesting, not creepy. You've gotta explain how it's disturbing, because it makes no sense. It was misleading so the plot twist would make sense, and how is it wrong? Nothing about it was creepy. They weren't doing anything sexual with the characters, they weren't doing anything illegal in with the characters... they were just characters that turned out to be kids. How is that creepy?

^ There's just something very wrong with tricking people in to thinking they're adults when they're actually kids. It's misleading in a bad way. Like going to see a comedy movie that turns out to be a horror movie. Whoever came up with that sadistic idea shouldn't be involved in PG rated entertainment. Kids should mature naturally in to adulthood and experience the physical and hormonal changes that occur during puberty gradually and not be put in a position where they have to grow up too fast and be more like adult like. It's messed up! It doesn't even make sense. Kou was a kid, he looked like a kid and only his ranger form was adult sized. Unless there was an orgy scene how was it creepy? Kids shaped like adults isn't creepy enough for you?

...You are thinking way to deeply into this.
The horror movie comparison makes no sense because it's still the same show. It didn't change tone halfway through or something. It just had a twist ending. Like how Mack was actually a robot the whole time. It's "misleading" so the plot twist would work. If they just told you from the beginning there would be no twist.
Are we really going into talk about hormonal changes and crap? Really? At the end of the day it's a goofy kid's show about imagination and trains, dude. It's not as deep as you're making it out to be. Nobody is sadistic in this. It's not "messed up", you're just thinking to hard about it. Why would you even go into thinking about puberty in a show like this? That is just... I don't even know.
Not liking a series is cool. Everyone has opinions, but you act like the show personally offended you with this plot twist.
I still think this has something to do with you being mad at the creators for "tricking" you into shipping Tokkati (can never remember how to spell his name) and Wagon because one of them is actually underage...

^ Before the twist, it was a show about adult superheroes with memory loss. Then it was a show about adult shaped kids. You can't deny the show changed. At least with Mack, it was a good twist that wasn't creepy. I just want the staff to be honest about the genre instead of making me believe the core 5 are adults, now I can't see them the same way anymore. In my mind, I can't forget that they're kids and that's why I can't finish ToQGer.
Yeah, we're going to talk about hormonal changes and puberty in this topic since they're part of growing up and becoming an adult. We can't ignore it. ToQGer fails as a kids show due to the controversial implications that these kids are experiencing puberty at a much faster rate as they turn in to adults and that's not okay or natural. That's sadistic and messed up.
And yeah, I'm still offended about being tricked in to shipping a kid with an adult. Just another reason why it's so creepy. I'm sure there were other shippers who had to abandon their ships after finding out the truth. I am innocent and I didn't know I was doing something wrong since the staff misled me. That's why this is deeper than dislike.

We can ignore it because this is a kids show and you aren't supposed to be thinking that kind of stuff about it. Again, you're looking too deep into it. We can ignore it because that's... a really weird thing to focus on. We can even just say they didn't even go through puberty, they just woke up as adults. They skipped all of it. So there, that answers all the hormonal change crap.
If we're going this route, what about Justin? When he transforms he transforms into adult? What happens under his suit? Does he go through puberty under his suit? We can't ignore things like that, can we?
Also, dude, you gotta let that go. The staff didn't make you do anything, you chose to yourself. You're holding a pointless grudge and it's kind of ridiculous. Also, you didn't do anything illegal. You were shipping two fictional characters from a completely unrealistic show. Nobody is going to think you're "weird" or "wrong" for shipping something on accident. You're offended for no good reason. The staff were not wickedly rubbing their hands together thinking of tricking people.

I'm not a kid though, I'm not the target demographic, I can't help thinking that kind of stuff, it's just there. You can ignore it if you want but I can't. It's always going to be on my mind whenever I think about it. You can try to justify it if you want but I can't shake the feeling that it's wrong. I always look deeper beyond the surface, that's just how I think.
I believe the Morphin' Grid is responsible for Justin growing in ranger form. Notice that shorter adults like Theo and Sarah grow as well.
I hope you're right about that. I don't want people to accuse me of something like that when I didn't know what I was doing. I kind of felt bad about myself as well when I found out. I guess I just need to be more cautious in the future.
