"She doesn't like skirts and plays sports, she must be gay!" is a common stereotype, yes. But I really don't think it's that big of a deal in this case. I'm just more happy that they finally got the chance to get an LGBTQ ranger that wasn't just hinted at or only confirmed after the fact.
We got something good here. masc lesbians exist homies

I already saw the spoilers and to be honest, I don't really care. I just don't want the characters' same sex relationships be shoved down our throats like it's supposed to be a big deal to earn some woke points. When the reality is, it's just pandering to and exploiting the LGBTQ+ community. It should just be treated like it's a subtle relationship and it's not all that serious on TV. Plus the characters would be like, "well, we don't care if you're gay. You're still the same person and we love you for who you are. Now, can we please get back to work and figure out how to such-and-such?!"

Just to be sure, I fully support the inclusivity we have, it's something PR should have done decades ago, almost as soon as David Yost came out, and at least with this, it's with a character that is new, is likeable, and will have an arc to build from.
It's also not a toxic relationship (cough She-Ra cough) or some existing character known for heterosexual interests having this grafted onto their person to score quick and easy points. Izzy has her own agency, her own fanbase, and this is what they can proudly call theirs. No appropriation (cough Tim Drake cough)
I also get people tire of this constantly being thrown into their programmes, and they're well within their rights to resist it. The left have always been insecure and intolerant of these people, believing their opinion somehow means undermining the progression made...it doesn't, whatever side of history the mainstream is pushing, it's the 'right' one to them and we're all going to see more of this...but maybe it ought to be done with a bit more subtly.
So far, that's what is happening here. It's easing audiences into accepting the relationship, it's not going out of it's way to make a statement. It just happens to be a scene that plays out. Izzy isn't reminding us she's gay every ten minutes (cough Bill Potts cough), she's a teenager, she's a girl, she's got a coaching career, she's got a girlfriend, but most importantly, she's a Ranger and she's loyal to her friends, and she gets on with the job of protecting Earth. Power Rangers ticks it's box when neccersarry and focuses on telling a good story
THAT is the issue so many have with 'woke' programmes, they're not interested in selling you the story, they're interested in selling you the message.
