Kyuranger episode 32: What the hell did I just watch? This episode was bafflingly stupid. Then again after episodes 14 and 27, I shouldn't be surprised. Yet another episode of Kyuranger that's a waste of time.
The Good: There's only one thing I liked about this episode. As much as I hate the Kyulette and think it's completely pointless and unnecessary, Tsurugi and Stinger doing the Kyulette the Chance was freaking hilarious. It may be the funniest thing in the whole show. Aside from that, I don't have anything good to say.
The Bad: I almost don't know where to start. The appliances coming to life was just stupid. After that lawnmower bullcrap from Ninninger, Nobuhiro Mori should never write about any kind of appliances coming to life in any way ever again. I'm kidding, but still, that fight scene was stupid.
This Raptor and Orion thing was just stupid. It's also kind of a missed opportunity. In episode 4, we got that scene with Raptor talking to Orion and calling it Uncle, and the show never touches on that again until now. If they were gonna do this, it kinda would have been cool if the Orion was sentient, and the ship's AI, kinda like DECA from In Space, and since Raptor was the ship's pilot, they have this relationship. Maybe that would have helped with her character. It could have also given us a character to care about when the ship sacrifices itself.
Here's my problem. Storytelling is all about communication. It's the writer's, director's, etc, job to put forth the information, and it's the audience's job to infer and interpret that information. If the Orion is a living, sentient being, we see no evidence of it throughout the whole show, except for Raptor calling it Uncle that one time, 28 episodes ago. When Raptor says she's being delusional, we have no choice but to take her word for it, because if the ship really is sentient, she would know that. It makes this whole episode feel stupid because we're supposed to care about a nonliving object as if it is really alive, and everything that this show has communicated to us tells us that it's not, so when the ship just teleports Balance, Spada, and Kotaro to their zords and flies off and sacrifices itself, it is a complete jump the sharkzord moment, and it feels completely unearned, and out of left field. I hated this. Also, whatever it is that Raptor supposedly learned from Orion, I have no clue. Her saying that is so that she can pretend she sent through a character arc.
Next episode: Why is Eris back? We barely get development for half of these characters, yet we have to waste time with Eris, again? Can Eris be added to the list of characters along with Victor and Monty to be put on a rocket and shot into a black hole?

That was the point of this show, to be humouristic. Like Akibaranger or Kampai Senshi After V. I haven't laughed so much in any other tokusatsu show like I did in this one and it was miles away better than the power rangers turbo garbage. If you take Carranger seriously you miss the whole fun. Obviously it's not the best thing you can watch but personally every time I remember it I smile. Maybe you just wasn't in the mood for something like that when you watched it, it happens. Nobody has to like anything just because. I just was surprised you said you didn't especially because you've seen so many sentai shows. I thought you would like too the fact that it was something else. I gave it an 8/10 in the review I did in my forum so I don't consider it god status show either. That's another thing. I knew all of that stuff going in. I know a lot of people like this show, and because of that, and the fact that I also don't like Turbo, I was looking forward to this show. I didn't go into this show expecting Shinkenger or Go-Busters level of drama. I knew it was a parody going in, so I knew not to judge the show on that level, and I still hated it . Even a parody show still has to have characters I care about, and it especially has to be funny. I don't like a single character in this show, whether they're ranger, villain, or side character, and I can count on one hand the number of jokes I thought were funny in the whole show. The type of humor I like is in shows like Dekaranger, Kyoryuger, and Go-Onger, because they're lighthearted, but not too over-the-top goofy, and they still have likable characters. This show is Ninninger on steroids, but with cars. Yeah, I've seen a lot of sentais, but I also don't like every one I've seen. I'm one of the few sentai fans in the world that doesn't like Megaranger or Hurricaneger, shows that I know are popular. I'm just calling it like I see it.

I don't like Turbo, OO, The Alien Ranger Arc, or any of the Neo-Saban seasons, but like I said with SS and KR, I'm gonna watch every season anyway, so I'm never gonna regret watching any of them. Nowadays, no matter how bad the show gets, I'm just too curious to see what they do with the adaptations of the sentais to stop watching.

I feel similarly to CD. I'm on a journey to watch all of the previous sentai seasons, no matter how good or bad they are, because I want to have said I've done it, and I want the experience of rewatching Gokaiger having seen all of the previous shows. I'm also doing this out of curiosity, and out of wanting to have my own opinion on these shows. I'm gonna watch every sentai, so I could never really regret watching any of them. I think Hurricaneger, Ninninger, Megaranger, and Carranger are all terrible, but still, no regrets.
As for KR, I'm doing a watchthrough right now, and I've only seen Wizard-current, and I'm watching Fourze now, and I've yet to see a KR show that I outright dislike. I don't even hate Ghost. I just think it's okay. Like I said about SS, I'm gonna watch every KR show anyway, so I'm never gonna have any regrets.

I personally enjoyed Carranger. It had a genious humour and it was far better than Power Rangers Turbo. It was a fresh air in super sentai esthetic. I find it normal if someone who hasn't watched many sentai series fails to see how unique and fresh it was. I've been having internet problems, so I couldn't reply until now. If you see my list, I've seen pretty much half of the SS franchise by now. I don't know how many more seasons you think I would need to see to "get" Carranger, but I think I've seen enough. I get that there's people who like it, but that doesn't mean I have to. To me, this show is just nonsense. It makes Ninninger look like Shinkenger. I think it's abysmal.

Kyuranger episode 31: I've been having internet problems, so I couldn't post this as soon as I would have liked. Also, on the off chance that someone wants to go back and read any of my previous posts, I saved all the links to a Google Docs: docs.google.com/document/d/1GGXSW0-1vhEMDLzJ14RtBYePI_PqsdDGo8D6YuE--4Y/edit?usp=sharing As for the episode, I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t hate it. I thought this episode was meh. I think the resolution to this Dark Naga arc was anticlimactic. I’m actually starting to wonder what the point of it was. The Good: There were some small moments I liked. The gag with the giant Micro Tsuyo-Indaver, especially with everyone looking up expecting a giant monster, was funny. I also thought it was funny when Balance and Naga said to that Indaver “Sucks to be you” and it said “Yes, it really does”. When Shishi Red Orion pulled out that KyuSword, did anyone else think “Connect, Please”? The Bad: This episode didn’t feel like it was about developing Naga’s character so much as waking him up from a nap. This was a weird plan to me. Akyanba’s spell just infected Naga with a bunch of microscopic Micro Tsuyo-Indavers, and their plan was to wake up a sleeping Naga? This kinda felt like a letdown, especially since the big emotional revelation was that...he didn’t want Dark Naga’s emotions? That’s kinda obvious. Is that what this has all been building to? This was a waste of an arc, because you were an idiot for trusting Akyanba in the first place. At first, I liked that Naga got his own power-up, but the more I think about it, I don't, because of how unearned it feels. Balance crying with actual tears is just stupid. He’s a robot. He can’t cry. They could have gotten those emotions across without doing that. It just looked silly. Also, how were they able to form Kyutamajin without the Oushi and Ryu Kyutamas? Those should have at least been missing from the formation. If it’s illegal for people from Naga’s system to have emotions, why are we just now finding out about that? You’d think Echidna would have led with that, and if it’s illegal in her system, what does it matter to her if Naga has emotions if he isn’t on his planet? Does she have the jurisdiction to kill Naga? You’d think not, but they don’t bother to explain it, because it’s not thought through at all. “I still do not believe emotions are necessary. However, you are all strong because of your emotions.” That makes no sense to me. If she still thinks they are unnecessary, why would she think they would make them strong, or if she thinks they make the Kyurangers strong, why wouldn’t she think they are at least necessary to defeating Don Armage? What is she trying to say here? I don’t know. Next episode: More silly bullcrap. If this episode properly earned its emotion, and Kyuranger’s silliness wasn’t so stupid, I would think a more lighthearted episode was warranted, but seeing as how that’s not the case, I’m not looking forward to this one.

I rewatched Dekaranger and SPD about a few months ago, and I was thinking I would love to see SS try their hand at another police theme, then we get this? A police sentai Vs a thief sentai? This sounds freaking awesome. I say that, but it's been feeling like lately, sentais have been sounding more awesome than they actually end up being. Still, since this is all we have to go on, I'm gonna be excited for this for now. I can't wait to get more information on this.

Alright, I finally finished Wizard. I only watched up to episode 51 because the Gaim crossover also brought back a bunch of other past riders, and I don't want to watch anything like that until I watch all of those shows. As for Wizard, I love the magic theme, and the fact that his move set uses the elements, and I love the action because of it. My 3 biggest problems with the show is that aside from Haruto and Kousuke, and the donut shop owner, the other characters are meh, the show starts out too episodic, and aside from a handful of them, the gates themselves are annoying. I do think it has a solid plot, and the easiest plot to follow out of all of the KR shows I've seen so far, so I appreciate that. I do think it's a good show overall, but just not a great one, and I don't love it as much as I want to.
Up next is Fourze. I already know what people are gonna say. I hear people say that this show is too silly and that it feels more like a sentai. I had someone who's opinion I trust recommend this show for me after observing that I tend to prefer KR more when it's more lighthearted, and with the little I've seen of Fourze from the commercials for the Wizard/Fourze movie earlier in the show, it looks like my kind of fun, so I'm looking forward to it, then next after that is OOO, then I'm gonna try to finish Amazons. As for my KR ranking:
Current KR Ranking: 1) Drive 2) Ex-Aid 3) Gaim 4) Wizard 5) Ghost

I just finished Carranger. Finally! Even at only 48 episodes, this is the longest sentai I've ever watched. This took me eons to get through. I thought Ninninger was bad. I thought Hurricaneger was bad. I thought Megaranger was bad, but this one takes the cake. Carranger is now the worst sentai I've ever seen so far. With bland characters, lame villains, an uninteresting plot, and unfunny humor, this sentai is Murphy's Law: Anything that can go wrong, did go wrong. I know it's a parody sentai, but that means nothing to me when I don't care about the characters or don't think the show is funny. This puts Turbo in a whole new perspective for me, and I now better understand why I don't like that show either. After watching 2 terrible sentais in a row, I pray Ohranger doesn't make it a hat trick, and as for KR, I just have to finish up Wizard (I'm on episode 40), then I'm on to Fourze. Also, the more I think about it, the more I hate Megaranger, so I'm moving it down. As for my sentai ranking:
Current Sentai Ranking: 1) Gokaiger 2) Shinkenger 3) Gekiranger 4) Go-Busters 5) Magiranger 6) Dekaranger 7) Gingaman 8) Timeranger 9) Kyoryuger 10) Boukenger 11) Go-Onger 12) Goseiger 13) Abaranger 14) GoGo V 15) Zyuohger 16) Gaoranger 17) ToQger 18) Hurricaneger 19) Ninninger 20) Megaranger (It was at 19) 21) Carranger
