I'm surprised that nobody has ever thought about creating this thread. So, as Thanos would say..."Fine!! I'll do it, myself!!!"
So, with that being said...let's talk about Voltron!!

I never watched the original Voltron in full. I've seen clips and the opening in a thousand different "Best anime ever" compilations. My first experiance with Voltron was 2011's Voltron Force and followed by 2016's Voltron Legendary Defender, which I'm still pissed about the 8th season like a lot of the VLD fans.

Actually, I rewatched the entire series of Voltron Legendary Defender and I just finished my retrospective on the final season. Honestly, the final season of Voltron Legendary Defender is not as bad as you thought it was when you go back and revisit the show. I mean, yeah, it's not a perfect way to end the show. But, given the fact that the original 1984 anime series never actually had a series finale, and Voltron Force was unfortunately, cancelled after one season by NickToons Network back in 2011 and hardly anyone ever talks about or remembers the 3D animated Voltron series in the late 90's. The one with Billy West as the voice of Pidge, Tim Curry as the voice of Lotor and Kevin Michael Richardson as the voices of Hunk and King Zarkon. Maybe the reason why you're so pissed about the final season is because you either had too much high expectations or you just wanted the show to end the same way as Avatar: The Last Airbender did just because the show was being handled by the same people who worked on that show. Or you just didn't want Allura to die. Me?! I'm just pissed that they didn't have Shiro talk about his sexual identity in season one and be done with it. I mean, having him be revealed that he was gay in season seven was just dumb. But, that's the fault of DreamWorks Animation Studios, not the people who actually worked on the show. But whatever, the final season was actually not that bad. Not a very great way to end the show, but at least it gave most of the characters closure and it was rather refreshing to see an incarnation that Voltron actually get a final battle and a final episode as opposed to just cancelling the show after one season or ending the show on a filler episode or a God-damn cliffhanger unlike some shows that I know of.

The only reason they did the whole "Shiro's gay" thing was to quell the fans who wanted gay representation. Any of the Voltron talk I've ever seen has always been about the relationships. They'd do stupid shit like "Shiro and Keith are endgame and if they don't give it to us they're homophobic and queerbaiting! Lance and Keith deserve to be together and it's homophobic if they don't!" Honestly, I was more a Shiro/Allura guy and didn't care one way or the other. But what makes me mad about the Shiro thing was Lauren Montgomery and Joaquin Dos Santos both said at ComiCon 2018 "We're not putting labels on him so you can interpret his sexuality however you want." but at a post-panel interview they kept touting "He's gay, he's gay." Way to backtrack on something you said. My big complaint about it was "Here's Shiro's former fiancee and now he's dead in a flashback and we get 2 minutes of him over the season." And if Curtis had been built up or given some more to do, maybe I could have seen him and Shiro as a thing.
The final season was full of problems to me. I didn't care about the Allura/Lance relationship, even though I thought it was kind of stupid how quickly Allura's attitude towards Lance's advances changed. She's dealing with Lotor betraying them and using her which is an emotional gutpunch and then they end up 3 years in the future and starts to return Lance's affections even though she's rebuffed every try he's done since day 1? Yeah, don't buy that for a minute. What really ground my gears was Allura's death. They bult up Voltron to be the thing that could save all of reality and fix everything the Galra Empire had done, but yet the Princess who had seen her home get destroyed, her father die, her people obliterated, had given up her castle to close portals that would have ripped reality apart, and who sacrificed her circlet crystal, the literal LAST THING OF HER PEOPLE to power Shiro's new arm, and the only female POC in the main cast had to die to save everything? Christ, sacrifice the giant robot lion! It's what it was designed for!
We should have had more time with Allura and the other Alteans that Honerva was using in the mechs. The "Dark entity from the dawn of time" that Honerva was using should have been explained better. You can also tell there were hasty last minute cut-and-paste jobs in some episodes, not just in season 8 but all through season 3 through 8. Anything in seaosn 3 and 4 with Clone-Shiro was obviously meant to be Keith because of the stance he takes leaning against the wall or in group shots. When Veronica and Acxa were talking on the firing range of the Atlas in S8, Veronica was meant to be Keith because Acxa's eyeline was down around Veronica's throat instead of her eyes, where Keith's height would be. LM and JDS admitted they redid some shots at the last minute and had to rework some scripts on the fly to suit what they needed to do.
Lauren admitted after Season 8 was out that they had enough cut plotlines to have filled out two more seasons, which is what they needed. Season eight felt rushed and incomplete, and characters that should have interacted didn't, and there were open plotlines from earlier seasons that needed to be finished. My personal favorite season 8 episode was 8x05 "The Grudge" because we got Zethrid and Ezor closure from seeing them in season 7 and more with the Keith/Acxa 'will they or won't they' teasing that had been going on since Season 2.
This was not meant to be this long, I swear! Season 8 just left a bad taste in my mouth...

Meh! Whatever. The damage was done anyways, so you can't do anything about it. Well, here's to the future of the Voltron franchise.🍻
By the way, shiro's fiancee was named, Adam. Not Curtis.

I don't think pairing up Shiro with Allura would ever work in a romantic storyline because they have no real on-screen chemistry together. As for the "KeithxLance" relationship...nope that wasn't gonna work, either. Even the writers had a gut-feeling that pairing up Keith and Lance would not turn out very well. But, I do want to point out one thing about the "Lance and Allura" storyline that I have never really noticed before when I first saw the 1984 series on Toonami in 1996. Allura was constantly blowing out kisses to Lance in the 1984 series. So, in some ways, it actually makes sense to why pairing up Lance and Allura would work in Legendary Defender.

No real on-screen chemistry? Shiro knowing the burden of leading, helping Allura through her traumas, her sacrificing herself for him in the end of season 1 and his returning for her, putting all other missions aside until they got her back. All the times they refused to leave the other behind to die or get captured? Shiro would literally go from yelling at any of the other Paladins or Slav or any character to gentle and understanding with Allura. No matter what Shiro did, he'd always be soft for Allura. Even the voice actors, Josh Keaton and Kimberly Brooks, when asked at conventions about it, both of them said it was one of their favorite ships, Kimberly especially had a soft spot for it.
As for Keith and Lance, I could go either way. Some times I hate it, like when the KICKers (Klance Is Canon King) were all up in arms about it being "endgame". I got to the point where I even asked my girlfriend to stop spamming Klance stuff in messages because I got fed up with the ship. I only take interest in it because of her, and I don't care either way honestly. I've got my own personal Keith ship with Acxa, so...
And what works in one series may not work in another. Allura may have been a flirty tease in DOTU, but in VLD, she rebuffed all of his advances from day 1 until they're back on Earth. I'm sorry, I just don't think that's right. Don't make the character do a 180 on her emotions and feelings just because she'd recently had her heart broken by Lotor. It didn't sit right two years ago and it still doesn't sit right now.
Look, everyone can have the pairs they like. I enjoy Shallura and Kacxa but tolerate Klance and don't much care for Allurance. THat's my right and my opinion. You like different ones, great. Joys of the internet, y'know? Everyone's opinions' valid for themselves.
I also think it's hilarious that you wait over 2 months to reply to a small part of a larger post after bascially blowing me off and saying "The damage was done anyways, so you can't do anything about it." But there is something I can do about it. I write fanfiction. I've written several VLD stories, fitting what I wished would have happened and played several VLD RPGs with my girlfriend on my own board. Again, joys of the internet. DOn't like something? Fix-It Fics or RPGs are always there.

Here is a more recent video from someone who has a huge fan of the entire Voltron franchise before Legendary and even existed and has shared his opinions on the show.
Let me know what you think.

I've never watched Votron since all the horror stories about it being a dumpster fire after a season scared me off but Joe here certainly helped make some good points about the show having good moments through out.

That's good. But, me?! I have other versions of Voltron that I should probably go back to and rewatch. Especially, the 1984 version, if I ever want to find the original Japanese subbed version of the anime. Seriously, there are plenty of other versions of the franchise that you should be more concerned about besides this one particular incarnation (Legendary Defender). Give them a shot. At the end of the day, Legendary Defender is just another version of the Voltron and that exists.

I'm aware that there are other versions of Voltron to talk about it's just that LD was the most recent iteration that had a big following compare to the others. Like Force was stuck on Nicktoons which in it of itself is a mark of death. & I think I'm like 12 people who even knew what The 3rd Dimension was. (Hell I had the toys of 2 different Voltron's from that show).

So, the big questions I would like to as are...."how dow fix Voltron Legendary Defender?"
And, "What are the chances that Hollywood would be interested in making a live-action Voltron movie adaptation?"

I think that idea has been dropped because they can't decide on which Gundam series should be adapted into a movie. Anyways, for anyone who was sour about the lions switch in Legendary Defender, the 1984 version basically started with four guys randomly piloting different lions before the black lion was found in the next episode. This was something that y'all should have been used to, if you had seen previous version of Voltron before.
