Just heard about the news a few hours ago. Sony is so stupid here. Why break deal in my mind. Why marvel help you out of the craphole. And now gave you a billion dollar movie. Hopefully a new deal can be made. Cause cutting ties to marvel will Def kill most folks view on Holland spiderman series. And I for one don't want them to shoehorn Holland spiderman which is very ingrained to mcu out and tie it to venom and future Sony non films. So hopefully things can work out.

I’m actually...not upset about this. I hated how much Iron Man was a part of his story. I hated how Aunt May was reduced to just being viewed as a hot piece of ass. I hated how they utterly ruined Mary Jane. I dislike Happy. I’m okay with Spidey starting over.
Also, this is clearly Disney’s fault for being greedy. The fact that people are pissed at Sony is ridiculous.

Zadaya character was not Mary Jane wateson. She is a totally original character. Now like I said hopefully a new deal can work out. This is what originally happened with Disney and Sony before original deal happened. They started talks in 2014. Sony balk on the talks. Then the famous Sony hack happened. And they really enter talks. And it came to be. Now yes it's all about money. I get Sony would want to keep more. As they don't have TV rights or merchandise rights. As marcel/Disney hols those. But with the marvel studios brand so well liked. And we know the Sony folks ie pascal, avi arad, Matt tolmach pretty much screw the franchise up with spiderman 3 and the amazing dmseries. Having marvel do the creative work and having spiderman tied to marvel brand. Put in a lot of good faith. And Sony reaped the box office money. Billion dollars for far and over 800 mill for homecoming. Losing feige, marvel ties, and marvel creative would really hurt Sony in the long front. Checking some other trade sites like I said above talks may be on going. So again a new deal could likely be worked on: comicbook.com/marvel/2019/08/20/sony-marvel-spider-man-negotiations-ongoing/www.vulture.com/2019/08/spider-mans-mcu-future-is-shaky-as-disney-sony-butt-heads.html#_ga=2.147775479.1754176722.1566344913-2073457030.1566344913

Disney may have started high in their negotiations but they aren't any different than an athlete trying to renegotiate their contract after outperforming the original.
Regardless of how any of us feel regarding the creative direction of MCU Spidey, this is a setback where the fans lose as a result of Sony trying to do too much. Their bumbling put the kibosh on a 4th Raimi Spidey, a 3rd Amazing Spidey, and barring a hail mary, a proper third MCU Spidey movie. Now Sony is tasked with either carrying on with Holland minus all of his backstory and development over the last several years or another reboot which will not go over well.

And yet Sony won an Oscar for Spider-Verse, which is arguably a more accurate and faithful Spider-Man movie than either of the Iron Boy adventures, and Venom exceeded box office expectations despite critical apathy. So they haven't been screwing up all that recently.

Oh I get venom made money but it was panned critically and fans are so so on it. Plus look sony had to massively rewrite character to cut spiderman and marvel ties. And animated film I put in different place as its easier in animation to do things. But come on you have to look at who help fixed spiderman and the mcu as a whole as a brand and films. Sony needs feige and the mcu. More so with how much mcu ties they made to mcu spidey. Again look at all the back and forth first deal went. And we are likely 2 years from 3rd Holland film to go to filming stage. A new deal is more then likely could be worked out. Heck in link i last posted stated Sony hopes to work with marvel in future. And come on their talk of feige to busy to give a hand due to fox characters is utter bs talk for Sony to make them look good. Looks like watts could be gone too: comicbook.com/marvel/2019/08/21/director-jon-watts-not-signed-on-for-future-spider-man-films/

Well maybe Marvel should bail on Sony and keep Spider Man in the MCU anyway and work with Disney on the next one or go on their own. Marvel could'nt proceed with their own take on Spidey if they wanted to, they don't have the movie rights, they can only produce television (largely animated), also Tom Holland was Sony's pick for Spider-Man and he's contracted to THEM, not Disney/Marvel. They would have to recast him and nobody will want that.

Zarius actually it was marvel and the Russo brothers who picked tom. Sony just had final say in casting. Most reports back in 2015 stated Tom was marvel choice. Sony wanted Asa Butterfield who was there choice and at end was Tom and asa.
Ya April of you know anything of who has what regarding spiderman you know they cant. Marvel has the TV animation rights and the merchandise for spiderman since 2011. As Sony gave those up prior to amazing spiderman 1 came out. To get some much needed money they needed to pay off some debts. So all Sony has is the film rights/distribution rights to solo spiderman movies and movies to 900 other characters that fall under the spiderman family of marvel characters.
With the original deal made in 2015 marvel still got to keep tv and merch rights. But Sony would loan marvel studios the right to have spiderman and select side characters be apart of the mcu. Sony would make no money off those team up appearances in the mcu. Marvel would get 5% of first dollar made (I believe this meant from opening weekend only not total box office run.) And would have creative lead and control in story direction, casting etc. Sony would foot the solo film production costs and would get the 95% rest of the box office profits.
So with the deal breaking for now. Things are where they where prior to original deal. Marvel can use character in cartoon shows to there heart content. They get profit from merch which is over a billion dollars annually last I read. Now is the deal dead for good not likely. They both could come back to the table or if most reports say talks still on going. So as with original deal taking a bit to be ironed out a new one could work out. As it would be more beneficial for the character and both studios to work together. Then being apart.
As doing that just ultimately hurts us fans. Then to both studios to varied degrees. Marvel looses all the build up and access they put into character and future plans for him in the world. Now yes they may not need him to keep going. But does leave a big hole if they can't ever use him again. Sony on the other hand with how ingrained marvel made spider to greater mcu. To loose marvel creative control and marvel ties. Just severe all the build up they did. And cuts out all those stuff. And I said it before Sony may think they don't need marvel to be a success which I get as they feel things good with spider verse and venom even with venom production issues. But look at Sony history and the Sony execs tolmach, avi, and Amy I for one don't want them having full say in spiderman. As they where the 3 heads that botched things in past. And even if they try to replicate mcu look and tone with there history they will more then likely still mess it up.

Neo did article come from deadline, the Hollywood reporter, vulture or from official channels from disney/marvel or Sony pictures. Cause if it's some Joe blow site say cosmicbooknews.com or a site like that. I wouldn't believe it. As much as we fans want new deal reached.
Also April if deal isn't reup. They are not going to reboot again. As currently it's been reported Tom has at least 2 movies left on his contract. So Sony can still use him. Just has to cut out all mcu references and stuff and so forth which would hurt character and story with how ingrained marvel put him. Now could they do that and still be a success that is the big factor. Which I don't want to see and let Sony be the creative facyor. As much as reports say they could do marvel style them selfs. They would just muck things up again.
