This is an interesting topic. I don't know why people never bring this up when it comes to reboots or remakes, nowadays.
Any thoughts on this video?

Well if it's one of those 2 I'd say 2 possibilities -
1 - Try to retell the origons story in the first movie and build out
Scooby-Doo did this with Scooby-Doo 3 The Mystery Begins for instance
2 - Try to continue where the last story left off with a new generation to move the story forward.

Scooby-Doo did this with "Scooby-Doo 3: The Mystery Begins" for instance. 2 - Try to continue where the last story left off with a new generation to move the story forward. Basically, just make the first installment of a series a one-off and then have the next installments lead to a spin-off series following a new team of protagonists (Season one of DC's "Legends of Tomorrow").
