I understand that there is a tradition where we could usually get a yearly crossover episode with a previous team of Power Rangers and the more recent team of Power Rangers. However, the last yearly crossover event that we had in the past 17 seasons of Power Rangers before the Neo-Saban era came along and ruined crossover events for everyone was sigh! "Once A Ranger." But that was just mediocre in comparison to Super Megaforce's "Legendary Battle". Yet lately, the last two "crossover events" that the Neo-Saban era have been giving us was nothing more but copying and pasting everything from Super Sentai, note-for-note with absolutely zero originality or an actual coherent story-telling being put into them. sigh! F@#$'n Jonathan Tzachor!!! And now, we're basically going get a "special event" for the 25th anniversary TV series which is either a shameful, or a shameless rehashing of Super Megaforce's "Legendary Battle," but with the cast of Ninja Steel/Super Ninja Steel and a slightly smaller number of past Power Rangers actors reprising their roles in it. However, I have been seeing several fans in their youtube videos ans reading several fans posting on forums asking and demanding for more Power Rangers adaptations of Super Sentai crossover movies instead of asking for more original crossover ideas for the franchise. But, my attitude and reaction is this....
Just because Hasbro now owns the master licence to Power Rangers and just because they could adapt certain sentai crossover movies such as "Jyuohger vs. Gokaiger," "Toqger vs. Kyoryuger," or "Go-Busters vs. Gokaiger" into a crossover event into Power Rangers...doesn't necessarily mean that really have to do it. Nor should they. I mean, why are wasting our time trying to force something to happen in the franchise in hopes of "redeeming" some bad qualities from previous incarnations and/or past installments, when we should be asking for something much better than what the source material could offer instead?! Something that might actually improve on the poor qualities in the franchise besides the toysales, the acting and writing and less MMPR nostalgia. I mean, okay! We could ask for Hasbro to adapt "Go-Busters vs. Gokaiger" into a crossover between the main casts of Beast Morphers and Super Megaforce, but what good will that do?! Is that ever gonna make us wanna like Super Megaforce even more despite the fact that it was considered to be one of the absolute worst anniversary season of Power Rangers?! Will that make us want to hate the characters even less?! I mean, sure. The cast of Super Megaforce might actually make some improvements in their acting, and we could like the characters a bit more, but it doesn't make up for the fact that their own season was an absolute dissapointment to many fans and it was a pathetic attempt to cash in on childhood nostalgia without understanding why people still talk about this franchise even to this day.
Or how about the Go-Busters crossover event with the cast os Space Sheriff Gavan the Movie (2012)?! Is that gonna bring back the metal hero series into the U.S.?! I don't think so. Same could be said about "Jyuohger vs Gokaiger." I mean, it's likely that we're never gonna see that crossover become an event for Power Rangers for the next few years unless, if Hasbro is willing to find a new home for the franchise by then. Or if Nickelodeon is willing to renew their conctract with the franchise for another three years or so. But, if they could then, it's likely that they gonna have to make up some bullsh*t excuse about why the Jyuoh Whale powers exist in another episode before this event even happened. And believe me...if you have seen most of the Neo-Saban era of Power Rangers, you know what I am talking about. Hell, even some of the past seasons of Power Rangers from 1993-2009 had to make up some excuses about why we don't get to see other power-up form or new weapons or new zords until the later half of their respective shows. But, at least there is actual effort, thought and heart being put into those moments as opposed to what we've been getting from the Neo-Saban era within the past seven years.
Still, I just want to know why?! Why aren't we, the fans asking for more original crossover ideas for Power Rangers instead of asking for more U.S. adaptations of existing sentai crossover movies and TV specials?! What so special about using stock footage of existing sentai crossovers and splicing them in with American footage, when we should be asking for more original crossover ideas like "Always A Chance," "True Blue to the Rescue," or "Reinforcements from the Future", "Thunder Storm" or even "Shell Shocked" for that matter?! Yeah, the infamous crossover between Power Rangers in Space and Saban's Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation was an original idea for a crossover event in Power Rangers. And yet, people are asking for an adaptation of "Jyuohger vs Gokaiger" over something original like that?!
