I actually forgotten how completely dark X-Men First Class was, story-wise. Even after rewatching the film, yesterday. It's still a dark X-Men movie, in my opinion. MUCH darker the original X-Men trilogy. Still, I actually liked this movie. Days of Future Past on the other hand, is kind of a tough one since I am only going to stick with the extended cut of the movie, for now. But, I will give it credit adding some things that were entirely different from the theatrical cut and making the tine feel a bit more deeper with Mystique actually being sent down a much darker path. Especially in the scene where she returns to the X-Mansion to reconcile with Beast only to disable Cerebro. I was actually impressed impressed with the performances of the cast in this movie, and yes. I actually cried when history of the X-Men cinematic universe was suddenly altered and we get to see all of the X-Men characters from the original trilogy alive and well and all present for accounted for. Including Cyclops and Jean Grey. However, I am gonna have to argue with everyone that Days of Future Past pretty much undid all of the events from the old X-Men movie universe. Not just the bad movies, but also the first two X-Men movies that Bryan Singer directed. So, everything that you have remembered from those old X-Men movies...you can just tossed all that aside because this movie is trying to tell forget all about the past, as if the past 14 years of existing X-Men movies never actually happened. Meaning, they have never existed. Anyways, enough of that. This leads us to X-Men Apocalypse and well, I guess they should have made an extended cut of this movie, but oh well...laziness. Still, it is a far better third installment than X-Men: The Last Stand, Aliens 3, Robocop 3, Terminator 3, and Blade: Trinity. But we can all agree that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the absolute worst X-Men movie ever made, and I mean it...it is DEFINITELY the absolute worst of the worst.
Overall, this was an enjoyable experience for me and I admit. I felt that the X-Men First Class trilogy had a much stronger dynamic in story-telling and it felt like it did have a beginning, middle and end for these younger versions of the classic X-Men characters unlike the original X-Men movie trilogy where it doesn't seem to have an actual resolution for those characters or anything to make it feel like it's about to have a beginning, middle and end for them. It just left the story of the original X-Men movies incomplete and without a real satisfying conclusion for everyone in that trilogy.
And that's all I gotta say about that.
