Green light for Walt Disney and 21st Century Fox to integrate in Colombia Economy 10 Jan 2019 - 1:29 PM
The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) announced its decision to authorize the integration of these two companies in the country, which in the national territory are listed as The Walt Disney Company Colombia SA . and Fox Channels Colombia LTDA . As announced by this entity, the agreement also stipulated that Disney can keep the film and television studios of its acquisition, as well as the respective cable entertainment networks and international television companies. With the endorsement given by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, The Walt Disney Company will be able to acquire 21st Century Fox, in addition to its film and television studios, among others.
Disney's intentions to stay with 21st Century Fox , had an important milestone in July last year when the shareholders of the first approved this purchase. Beyond commercial intentions, the legal impact that one of these acquisitions can represent, such as the endangerment of free competition to other companies present in the market, leaves several rungs to climb. In Colombia, an advance was recorded this morning.

Brazil might approve deal in condition Disney divest sports channels. Link is in Spanish, but here’s a translation.
Disney will have to sell sports channel, says Cade The company announced the purchase of Fox in a deal valued at more than $ 50 billion; the merger leaves with one owner two of the main sports channels of pay TV.
To approve the purchase of Fox by Disney, the Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade) requires that the company dispose of sports channels. According to the Broadcast / Broadcast, the sale is under negotiation between the board and Disney and the trend is for an agreement to be reached between the parties.
Disney announced the purchase of Fox in December last year in a deal valued at more than $ 50 billion. In Brazil, the merger leaves two of the main sports channels for pay-TV, ESPN and Fox Sports with only one owner - only Globosat's SporTV would not be in the group.

Ya looks like pretty much only major issues in most of the countries been the sports channels and Disney just sell off them. So that likely will happen in time probably much deal is totally finalized.

Why would they need to sell ESPN there. It's the fox sports channels that is the issue. Which would have to be sold off like they have to do elsewhere.

It's kinda like A&E in Europe. Disney would still have ESPN in the US while selling FSN in the US that if it sells the ESPN in Brazil they would have FSN in Brazil.

i would still say they would likely seel fsn there vs espn. Cause that just would be a weird thing disney owns this everywhere but one market. Vs having it everywhere and selling off the non needed thing which would be fsn.

Mexico approved half of the deal with Disney agreeing to sell there stake of Sony Pictures. Before anyone gets confused no that doesn't mean Spiderman isn't leaving the MCU. Disney is only selling it's distribution of Sony Pictures in Mexico.
