Now that the 7th and latest of the Child's Play movies has been available on dvd/blue ray and netflx streaming for the past two days might as well discuss it.
I've watched it twice on netflix and still don't know how I feel about it. If Curse was a return to the straight forward horror roots Cult of Chucky was a weird attempt at marrying the "seriousness" of the first 3 and Curse with the comedy of Bride and Seed and it just feels horribly uneven. I'm of the mind Chucky lends himself better to comedy-horror than serious-horror and the first Child Play's up until the doll comes alive and becomes a midget in a costume and Curse were the only ones that really made it work as a serious horror.
Also having Andy, Tiffany, and Nica was way more interesting in concept that execution. Andy and Nica don't even interact once until Nica gets possessed by Chucky and Andy and Tiffany only interact once...over the phone. You would think Mancini (the writer) could have found a way to make it awesome having the 3 faces of the different waves of Chucky films meeting for the first time.
