Xylia walked over and knelt beside Trigorth, her hands clenching. "Gifiel...what happens now?"
"Now?" the Mitute Queen asked. "Now, the people of Quboto decide a new Lord. There's always been lines of successors, but this is a new topic to approach since we've never lost a Lord in combat. Not in the last forty-thousand years."

In all of the chaos of battle and trying to keep an eye on Wicz with his injuries, he didn't even notice Trigorth in such a dire state. He knew the Lord was beaten up, but not to this fatal degree.
"So there's nobody at all primed to take over? No heir apparent?" Harrison asked.

Gifiel shook her head softly. "No. He never had any heirs," she said. "We'll start to figure it out tomorrow. Xylia, as the Chosen of Quboto's Kingsaber, you'll be asked to have a say in the selection, and it would most likely fall to you to be the one to make the final choice."
"I don't know that I'd like that much power, but if I have to, I'll do it," the Red Ranger said, sighing softly. "I'm so sorry, Trigorth...I wish I could have known you better..."

Ghost knelt down punching the ground. "DAMN IT. They played us... and if we had been... just a bit better... If I had..." Ghost was taking the loss hard. This was the first time as a ranger he has ever lost anyone in a battle he didn't know how to process it. What if it had been any of the others as well? He stabbed his sword in the ground as he clenched his fists.

What people don’t know is this isn’t the first time Wicz sees a dead body. In most occasions he's haunted but for this one, it doesn't affect him as he thinks it should. Turning away, he opts to focus on Ghost, gently placing his uninjured hand on his shoulder. "We didn't expect it to happen. Khumgul knew what he was doing." He says, trying to be optimistic as he can. "What we can do now is to find the solution so it doesn't occur again. No matter how big or small, there is a way. We just have to come up with a plan."

Unfortunately for Harrison, he knew the feeling of losing a comrade all too well, which made him overqualified in a situation such as this. "There's nothing more you or any of us could have done." Harrison said to the Blue Ranger. "All beating yourself up will do is cause many stressful days and sleepless nights. The best way we honor the lord is to keep fighting. To keep grinding so that Khumgul and his crew pay for what they did."

Xylia put her hand on Ghost's shoulder. Having been the replacement for a fallen Ranger, the Red Ranger knew what the line of thought Ghost was on would do to him. "Harrison's right. You can't dwell on it or you'll just constantly think "what if" and that's not good for anyone," she said. She sheathed her sword, looking at the others. "It's clear Khumgul's going for our reputations with his clone of me. I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm definitely impressed with the idea. I don't recall anyone in Ranger history doing that. We bury Trigorth, appoint the new Lord, and we keep fighting. We've still got three other Lands we haven't visited, and it's time to get proactive instead of reactive."
"We'll take Trigorth back to Quboto," Gifiel said. "I'll contact Seshami and Orchalion, they can travel to Quboto and be there for the burial and appointment."
Namear knelt down, holding her hand out and using her powers to bring the shard of the axe out of Trigorth's face, water swirling around him and patching his wounds, the only evidence being scarring on his face. "There. Now he can be presented to Quboto and nobody has to see the horror that Khumgul did to him."

Harrison nodded while walking over to Trigorth's body, picking it up. "We better move fast then. I've seen enough royal movies to know that having a kingdom without a lord for too long only leads to problems."

"You're right," Sphinx finally spoke. "Khumgul isn't going to get away with this."

Wicz can only nods solemnly before he gets up. Unfortunately for him, the deep cut from his shoulder becomes excruciating that he drops back down immediately. "Oh crud! This is not what I have in mind." The Purple Ranger grits his teeth, clutching the shoulder to stop the bleeding.

Namear walked over, holding her hand out and pressing it to Wicz's shoulder, stopping the bleeding and sealing the cut. She helped teh Purple Ranger to his feet, smiling softly. "On your feet, Master Wicz," she giggled. The Rangers all climbed into Gifiel's shuttle, heading for Quboto. The ride was mostly quiet, Xylia in silent contemplation about the coming events, and the role she was going to play in them. She'd never chosen a successor before, but she hoped that she'd make the right choices. After two hours of flying, the shuttle landed in the Land of the Beetle, a crowd gathering to welcome back their leader and Lord. However, as the door of the shuttle opened and Trigorth's body was carried out, the crowd fell silent. "The Lord is dead!" someone in the crowd yelled. "The traitorous Red Ranger kill him!" "Murderer!" rang out, people starting to yell at Xylia as she walked beside Gifiel and Namear. "Murderer! You're supposed to protect us, not turn on us!" "I didn't kill Trigorth!" Xylia said, looking at the crowd. "The thing masquarading around wearing my face is a clone created by Khumgul to discredit me. He killed Lord Trigorth, not me. I would never turn on my allies, and I do not wish the burdens I was given on anyone." "We can't trust you!" someone else yelled. "Then trust Trigorth!" a female voice rang out over the crowd, and Xylia's blood ran cold as the figure it was attatched to walked out. The Red Ranger's hand went to her sword's hilt. "Demelurina." The cat-woman tilted her head, smiling softly. "Have we met, Red Ranger? You seem familiar with my name." Xylia took a deep breath, sighing befor she removed her hand from her blade. "Not us...I met a variation of you in my previous tenure as a Ranger. That Demelurina was hellbent on wreaking havoc and causing as much destruction as she could. Even going as far as trying to seduce two of my team. One of them almost fell for it, the idiot..." Demelurina smiled softly, walking over and putting her hand on Xylia's shoulder. "There are Multiversal constants. Perhaps I'm one of them in some realities," she said. "We'll have time for this discussion later. Right now, we must bring Trigorth to the Palace and start deciding his successor."

Ghost was silent yet scowled at the ones against the red Ranger. They were the type to never ask questions but accept what they think they see. He knew they wouldn't have been chosen to be Rangers if they didn't deserve it. And he was protective of his team. He shook his head as a newcomer appeared and apparently the Red Ranger had beef with a variant.
"I know all too well what that's like... separating the version of someone you knew from the version that is..." He said to the others recalling his time in a different time and world from his own.

While Wicz has fair share over ostracism in school, this one is different because it's the crowd who show animosity over Xylia for something she doesn't actually do. This kind of thing makes him even more protective over his Red teammate. Upon seeing Demelurina, he tilts his head out of confusion. "I have so much to learn." He admits softly.

Xylia could feel the others eyes on her. "My old team, Wing Squadron, one of the enemies we fought was named Demelurina, and she was the Mistress of Felionious Nocturna of Earth-304, I guess it's leader or something. And she was the one that killed my predecessor, Asha. And every time we fought, she kept trying to kill me. I ended her life, cutting her down in the final battle before we killed Skeletrix."
Demelurina nodded, walking with the Rangers toward the palace. "It's understandable, Ms. Bloodmoon. Variants exist in the Multiverse, and I'm sure there are others of me that are as evil as the one you know, just as I'm sure there are less then beneveloent versions of all of you out there somewhere."

"Wow... the Multiverse can be cool... and scary at the same time," Sphinx commented softly.
