My review of Scooby Doo and Krypto Too, which leaked this weekend
You'd think someone like Lois Lane would be at the team's side throughout the film in the way that LEX LUTHOR of all people is, but she barely factors into it. Bizzarely, she and Jimmy barely appear in the entire movie, they're present at the beginning to set up the mystery but vanish for most of the film's duration once they assign Mystery Inc the mission.
The DC characters that spend the most time with Mystery Inc are Solomon Grundy, Lex Luthor, and Krypto. Lex plays a supporting role helping the gang figure out the mystery despite their suspicions....and ultimately the final twist turns him into the big bad for the final act as he comes close to bulldozing the hall of justice.
This movie leans very hard into Fred/Daphne again, probably the most since Stage Fright, there is open flirtation between them, Fred makes Daphne laugh a couple of times and he often reacts like he's really into Daphne also, with her attempting to make him jealous of Jimmy Olsen's interest in her. (Jimmy acts like Daphne is his girl due to a dance they had at summer camp when they were kids)
Fred also has a crush on Harley Quinn (who resembles her original Batman: TAS self and is with the Joker), but this goes completely underdeveloped beyond the one scene it's alluded to. It's just to set up Daphne making Fred jealous since she is jealous here of his infatuation with Harley.
Daphne does a few kickass moments in the film, using Batman's utility belt in a more appropriate manner than Fred does and showing off her martial arts skills and ability to wield a batarang (helps that she is a former Batgirl, as seen in the recent comics), she says she'd make a great Batman which...I don't know why she didn't just say Batgirl. Boy, is that character screwed in present day media right now.
For film that has a lot of references to Batman, he's refreshingly nowhere to be seen in this film.
There is a cameo from the 2006/2007 Legion of Superheroes show cast during the Solomon Grundy chase sequence (Shaggy and Scooby use the Flash dimension hopping treadmill to pay them a visit)
Krypto gets a lot of heroic moments, and has a rival in Rex Luthor, Lex's pet, who turns out to be a cyborg
It's a fun movie with a whodunnit that's a smidge predictable, and a final twist that turns it more into an action flick with a lot of wacky death-defying stunts for the Mystery Inc team, and Fred slays on an invisible tank (there's a running gag regarding all of Diana's invisible vehicles)
