Once a Ranger isn't bad, it's quite fun actually. The only problem with it is that the OO Rangers and Retro Rangers never really interact until the final battle. Once the Retro rangers show up, they didn't really talk to the OO rangers to encourage them to stay. Although the retro rangers were great though when they interacted within the group. Xander trying to execute his plan xander but failed was hilarious. Uhm, isn't Xander supposed to have seen as a full-grown character, ever since his season ended?! Why was he suddenly reverting back to his original character when he approached the Chillers with his "Plan Xander" shtick?! The whole point of seeing older ranger characters returning for later crossovers is to see our favorite characters from the past seasons fully-matured, acting like real adults, and somewhat wise mentor-ish characters to the new team while treating them as equals. But seeing Xander revert back to his pre-developed character in this scene during part two of "Once A Ranger" and getting his ass kicked, that's called character-assaination, in my opinion. It's like Xander hasn't really learned anything right after Mystic Force ended its' run. I would argue just because one grows doesn't mean they still don't retain their character quirk. Look at Bulk, just because he stood up to Astronema in CTD doesn't mean he is a full blown mature hero. He is still goofy afterwards. So Xander while has matured, will still be quirky here and there.

Chuck was in engineering, fixing up Rick, trying out what kind of new things he can get away with on the old robotic canine.

I can picture it now, an old Tommy Oliver is helping a somehow alive ailing Zordon. Zordon with multiple seizuers has killed off most of the power rangers. They find a little Tommy clone called Tammy and she will be the new successor and lead a new group of rangers to stop evil.
