While I don't agree with the title of this video, I will say that seeing Spencer being credited as the real mentor-character of Operation Overdrive is what really put a smile on my face. And it's about god-damn time he got some respect around here!!

^ Spencer being cited as the 'mentor' of the Operation Overdrive Rangers is just nonsensical pandering to certain parts of the fandom and over-exaggerating the character's importance simply because Andrew Hartford isn't your typical - or typically likable - mentor character.

It's been a minute since I've watched Overdrive, but I remember Spencer doing more mentoring than Hartford ever did.

I would argue that the character that actually does the mentoring should be called the mentor, but... it doesn't even really matter. These WatchMojo lists aren't usually any good anyway.
Who really cares who gets called the mentor of the season? It could go either way, just call whichever one you want the mentor.

Well, you are aware that Andrew Hartford doesn't really do a whole lot of "mentoring" in the entire season, right?! I mean, all he does is just give the rangers new weapons and zords and practicallly pays them to live in his house like a bunch of god-damn freeloaders. He doesn't really provide any helpful advice or at least help them grow to be better people. Spencer, on the other hand, does give out some words of wisdom. Just not at the level of Zordon's mentorship, or Mick for that matter. Plus, you do get to see him out on the field more often. A lot more than Mentor Jii from Samurai and Super Samurai. So, that is all I could say since let's face it...Operation Overdrive wasn't even that good of a season to begin with. But, it is better than almost all of the Neo-Saban era TV seasons, except for the first half of Dino Charge. No, seriously...the majority of the Neo-Saban era TV seasons made this season look like a masterpiece in comparison. And that really says something about Haim Saban's old company right there. Also, I liked to mention that you might have noticed that Udonna and Daggeron weren't even on this list and I think it may have to with the fact that Mystic Force didn't know who its' mentor-character was in that season. First it was Udonna, but then suddenly, Daggeron took over as the mentor-character and just pushed Udonna aside just to have her little subplot on finding her missing husband and son, Leanbow and Nick.

That’s highly debatable. About the only thing Overdrive, maybe, has over the Saban Brand era is acting. And even then the acting in OO is pretty bad. Character dynamics and roles shifting as the story progress does not mean the show doesn’t know “who its mentor character is”

In Power Rangers, the mentor is the person who provides support for the team. Hartford did that by bringing them together, creating their morphers and tech, and overseeing their overall mission. Spencer also filled the mentor role to an extent, but it's disingenuous to elevate him over Hartford, especially when the only reason for doing so is to pander to those fans who don't like Hartford. As far as Mystic Force goes, Udonna and Daggeron both served as team support, but Udonna remained the team's officially recognized mentor throughout, even when she wasn't physically present.

Sorry for the double post, but I gave in and watched the video, and while it had way more flaws the just the Spencer thing, it did prompt me to think about my own list, which is as follows: 10. Andrew Hartford 9. Jii 8. Princess Shayla 7. Doctor Oliver 6. Dimitria 5. Sensei Watanabe 4. Udonna and Kendall Morgan (Tie) 3. RJ 2. Zordon 1. Doctor K
