Power Rangers Beast Morphers " Goin' Ape" Discussion

This one is gonna be... something.

-Ravi's art makes a return.
-Oh hey, they remembered Roxy and Blaze's real counterparts exist.
-Left his painting.
-Why would you trust Ben and Betty with anything important?
-"We're both pretty busy these days" Nice excuse to try and pretend.
-Okay... that was funny.
-Uh oh.
-The anger begins.
-Now the Cybervillains get involved.
-"You're my good friend" Ah yes, Smash. Your good friend who you forget about 98% of the time.
-Solo blue morph sequence? Nice.
-Cue theme song.

Break.

-And we're back.
-I like the lack of talking in this fight scene, it brings you more into the action.
-And we get a solo blue beast-x mode sequence.
-Well, that didn't last long.
-Yeah, the whole idea of Ravi being mad as his girlfriend so he takes it out on a clone is... not great.
-Ravi's going off.
-Seeing Ranger vs Ranger fights is always kinda cool.
-Still overheating... 
-Ravi overheating + Being angry at Roxy + Real Roxy walking in? Yeah, this isn't gonna be uncomfortable at all.
-And now the truth is out. 
-Something about Ravi's anger towards Roxy being why he can't control himself makes me really uncomfortable.

-Break.

-I do like Blaze and Roxy's rivalry, I just wish they hadn't forgotten about it.
-...Wasn't this forest JUST filled with people?
-It's Morphin Time.
-Oh look, Nate and Steel have the wrong morphers again. Real great job, guys.
-I just realized, there's no Robotron this week.
-Hey, Blaze didn't scream Tronics this time.
-I'm enjoying this fight scene, honestly. Some good original choreography.
-Nate coming in to save Zoey is sentai footage, I know. But it was a good use of it considering they're dating here.
-Oh hey, it's that awful Lion sword. I did not miss it.
-That was a weak explosion.
-So... Ravi has to be physically restrained while his girlfriend apologizes to calm him down before he hurts her and others? Yeah, who thought this was a good idea?
-Oh hey, he's calm now. Isn't that... great.
-Guess it's' all good now?
-And that Ben and Betty moment was funny, too. This was a good episode for them.

That was... uncomfortable.

It's funny, people want PR to be 'adult' all the time, yet whenever the show touches on  adult subjects that are a little too morally grey or complex, they flip out and go all Helen Lovejoy thinking about 'the children'.

Even funnier is these same people read the Boom comics and think all the morally grey complex things there are the best thing ever.

The story formula underpinning this one might be basic, but I liked the spin this season put on it by tying in Ravi's heat weakness.

I don't think we've had that many episodes, if any, focused just on the season's generals going after the Rangers completely on their own without Robotron or Gigadrone support, and so it was fun to see a story like that done here.

Roxy is my favorite non-Ranger character, and so getting an episode where both versions of her were featured so heavily made me happy.

I find it funny that the robotic avatar versions of Blaze and Roxy keep getting blown up whenever the Rangers actually defeat them, and wish the show would hang a lampshade on that fact.

With just 7 episodes or so to go before the official end of this two-season installment of Power Rangers, I'm really in love with this cast of characters and this story - which is basically a combination of my first and third-favorite PR series (RPM and Time Force) - and can't wait to watch everything play itself out even as I work my way through the first half of Season 2.

'Going Ape' is a fine episode. Ravi get pissed when Roxy doesn't trust him, and it interfered with his ranger duties. There was no guest monster in the episode and no giant fight as well. It was a nice episode to pass the time.
