Now official, Ash's story isn't over...for at least eleven more episodes. Starting in January, his final arc will unfold, after which he and Pikachu will be retired from the anime and new protagonists and Pokemon will replace them.

Ash will spend those eleven episodes reconnecting with Misty and Brock

What an episode. Old times made new.

They remembered the lure! Misty wasn't pleased Ash wasn't using it. Plenty of other sweet and sour moments between them in the episode too, they haven't lost a step. Loved how full of joy Misty was after she surprised them in the forest, Ash had this smug assured look as if to say "I didn't catch the Pokemon, but I caught you didn't I?"
