It could also be a stage name.

Ya these shows are notorious for making fake names for characters in casting slides. For it to end up being x character from the comics. As I said in last post it would be such a waste to write out kate. And just pretty much kills all the relationships and stories of season one.
If they are doing a totally new character. Plus why bother make a totally new character even if it was to be a DC character. Then just a simple recast and keep on going like we have see on various arrow verse shows like change of sara, Kara krypton mother and others.

They can't kill Kate! She's the Bat Of The Future! This will affect the Crisis Team! Just recast her!

Kate isn't being killed off after all, she'll just vanish like Bruce

But it would fit. Bruce disappeared, Kate stepped up. Kate disappears, Newbie steps up in her place. It fits the world they've created. And besides, it gives us another "Wait there's more heroes out there?" moment with the new Batwoman when it's Crossover season.

It's still a lousy thing to do. After last arch of the season with Kate working past killing cartwright to just up and leave. I still don't see why the show runner didn't want to just recast and keep on going. Vs having to come up with a story why Kate now gone. Why this new character be it original character or some other comics charactee. And you pretty much just killed all the storyline you had in season. To now making things pointless. Like the triangle with kate, sophie, and Julia. The crows Vs bat woman and the drama kate had with that. The whole Mary and Kate sibling bonding and her joining team. And the the whole Alice deal.

I can't believe they're bringing in a new character. Just replace the actress and make it as though nothing's changed! COMMON SENSE!

Exactly. Just say it's a late effect of Crisis and be done with it.
Personally, I'm fine with a new character. It leaves a mystery for the newbie to solve other then "How do I work the damn suit?"

Now I wonder if the Justice League are aware of Kate’s disappearance, and welcoming the new Batwoman into the team?

Well as I posted before the show runner didn't want to do simple recast and go on with things. As she wanted to turn bat woman into a legacy mantle deal like batman and the other bat family guys have been in comics for years. Also I think it's stupid if this new character ends up really being some bat family of characters character like any of the batgirls, female Robins and so forth folks.
I said it before I really don't see why they didn't want to just recast Kate and go on like nothing. Arrow verse has done it multiple times in past and was never a problem. So I really don't see story wise you want to go through the hassle of making some bs story for Kate to be gone and to write in a new character.
Right there you kill the whole story you where building up all season. You kill all the relationships and point with all characters. You pretty much kill the whole build up now of hush playing Bruce and if real Bruce will return cause of hish. You kill the whole point of Alice being the big bad. And the whole stuff with Julia, Sophie and of course with Kate dad and her step sister mary.
