So yeah, Dan of Geek just posted an article about why it took Power Rangers this long to have LGBTQ+ representation in the franchise. Aside from the awful truth about why David Yost (Billy) left the show after four seasons, and now I have learned that Jackie Merchand is a lesbian in real-life and that Haley from "Power Rangers Dino Thunder" was originally intended to be a lesbian character in the show. But that's about it for me. Check it out for yourself. Click here to read the full article!

Den of Geek. The "peak" of geek journalism. Nah, thank you. I'm OK.

Now me?! I don't really care if we have a character that is gay. I just want them to be well-written and I am only interested in what they can bring to the table and what kind of importance they bring to the show as an individual and as member of the team. If they want to explore a character's sexuality or whatever, make that the plot of a filler episode that involves character-stuff and let it be done. Don't have it be the focus of the main A-plot of the entire show.
Quantity over quality is all I'm asking for.

It's because Saban/Disney/Newscorp/Bandai and any other company that has ever had their money in Power Rangers was afraid of conservative backlash hurting their money.
Now that every other kids studio has gotten past that Hasbro let the last horse cross the finish line.
There saved everyone the trouble of reading a waste of article

Remember when we tried to figure it out if Kelsey from Lightspeed Rescue was lesbian or not, and we don't care a flyign F%$k about if they were doing representation right, because we have better things to talk too, like if villians are awful (Loki was a waste) or if the Zords were retroengineered fom the Rescue Zords from Turbo? Good times. Like Venusaur tried to resume, I would do it too, even shorter. This is called a "trend". Something which is cool now, and later gonna be cringe and dated. You're welcome.

Good times. Not that we needed to know if Kelsey Winslow was a lesbian or not. But I can think of other characters, potentially from the Disney-era seasons who could pass off as being part of the LGBTQ+ community since not all of the characters from the Disney era seasons had any real backstories in their arcs because we had to make everything revolve around the damn side characters throughout the Kalish run. *cough!!* (Power Rangers Mystic Force) *cough!!* The characters from the Neo-Saban era?! Well, maybe Riley and possibly Ms. Morgan. Monty could pass off as being an openly-gay character. But the characters from Samurai and Megaforce?! Yeah, they are too much of a bunch of cardboard cut-outs to represent the LGBTQ+ community.

SPD revolved also with Sky, and being the son of a fallen Ranger. And it had some good episodes to Z, and Bridge. It doesn't revolved automatically around the Red Ranger. Jungle Fury was....pretty balanced between the three leads. It revolved a little more around Casey...but Theo and Lily had their share of importance. Heck, the romantic subplot went to those two....
I dunno why you believe characters who are cardboards cut-outs can't be LGBT+? Heck, Emma from Megaforce can be lesbian or bi. She seems to have everything for being that. She's like 90% of every LGBT+ character written in most of the series from US right now, having all the specifics: social justice, vegan, activist, feminist, seems a little sociopath.....like one of those characters from a bad Netflix show.

I was talking about the main characters from Samurai, Troy, Noah, Jake and Emma because of how poorly-written and how badly-directed they were in their own shows. Characters like Lauren and Gia could be seen as either bisexual or lesbian characters. BUUUUT, only when they are being properly flushed out and utilized as characters OUTSIDE OF THEIR OWN SHOWS!!! I mean, look at Shattered Grid, they actually made Lauren more three-dimensional and she was better utilized as a main character in that storyline than she was in Super Samurai. Gia was better utilized as a character in that Power Rangers Legacy War short film where she teamed-up with Tommy, Ryu and Chun-Li against M. Bison and that one Dino MegaCharge crossover short with Tyler. If this was Jonathan Tzachor handling those two shorts, you'd know he would ruin them because everything he touched in 2011-2014 dies. Now Emma's problem is that she didn't really get a proper backstory in Megaforce and Super Megaforce and they really couldn't do anything with her character in those two seasons or what kind of direction they were going for. If she was reintroduced as a character in the Boom! Studios comic books or in a future crossover episode, she might have a bit of a personality. But, I can't really say if she will be in a relationship with anybody regardless of her sexual orientation. Maybe in the near-future when she's older alas the future of Soul of the Dragon. But in the present...not so much. Now for the Disney-era characters, I was referring to Vida, Chip, Maddie from Mystic Force who got the biggest middle fingers in character-development since everything had to revole around f@#$'n Leelee Pimvare and her little redemption arc (like you could ever call that a redemption arc!!) Then there was the controversy of whether or not the story should revolve around Nick being "Diet Harry Potter" or "Discount Neo" from the Matrix franchise or should the story revolve around "Big Daddy Leanbow" being the main character of the show since he used to be Koragg and that his son, Nick (Bowen) was just an afterthought. But that's a different story. Xander...no, he's too macho to pass off as an LGBT character. Daggeron is too old. Jenji is more gender-neutral. Claire could pass as being bi. I could see that. Ninja Storm....I say Kelly, but that's about it. Cam could secretly be an LGBT character. Hunter, too monotonous. Dustin...hell no!! Leave him alone. Tori?! I don't know. Maybe Kapri, but that's about it. Operation Overdrive?! *ppppffffttt!!!* You wish that any of these characters would pass off as being part of LGBT community. RPM?! I'd say Tenaya could be well-written as an LGBT character, but that's all.

Yeah, even if Samurai and Megaforce are poorly writen, they had "representation". LGBT? I don't think so, but Emma can fit the role. LOL. Most shows of today are really poorly written and badly directed too. Some of them have bigger budget than Power Rangers, but they have worse characterization and development.

Something tells me you couldn't actually name that many LGBT characters that fit all those check points you named off. When was Emma EVER shown to be pro social justice? Do you think being an environmentalist is the same as being for social justice? Do you even know what words mean? Based on your track record clearly not And ah yes Emma the vegan. I'm pretty sure that was stated...never.

And how many enviromentalists show tendencies to being social justice warriors? A lot. Or everybody, in my experience. Come on. It's just common sense. She's just so stereotypical, (like everything in Power Rangers) and like any lazy writing today, she could perfectly being LGBT. Look Izzy, she's almost a stereotype....

Well, aside from telling her mom that she doesn't like wearing dresses and the eighth episode where she went all out on Javi for setting her up with a man despite the fact that he should have figured out that his sister was a lesbian, I don't really see much of Izzy actually being a stereotype for an LGBT character. Now, Barbara Gordon's gay best friend in Batman: The Killing Joke (the animated film adaptation).....THERE'S YOUR STEREOTYPE, RIGHT THERE!!!
