Now, I have to address the elephant in the room since this was a huge issue coming from the fandom in the past seven years now. In 2014, we had the tendency to compare Power Rangers Super Megaforce's God-awful finale, "The Legendary Battle" to Power Rangers in Space's iconic finale to the Zordon-era, "Countdown to Destruction." Mainly because we all thought that Super Megaforce's finale was ripping off that epic finale since it had a full-scale invasion of the Armada. But, it didn't really had the actual emotional weight and impact of seeing the amount of damage being laid waste into the city of Harwood County?! And yes, that is the actual name of the city in which Megaforce/Super Megaforce took place in. However, looking back at that and Countdown to Destruction, there was no actual comparison at all. Legendary Battle was just a cheap corporate attempt to cash-in on childhood nostalgic imagery without any form of care and respect for the material being given to the production crew or any form of reasons as to why people are talking about this franchise even to this day. And the fact that it showed no appreciation or respect to any of the past seasons from 1993-2009, yeah that is just downright disrespectful to not only the long-time fans of those seasons, but to the people who were all involved in making those seasons including the writers, episode directors, the suit actors, the stunt coordinators , action choreographers and the people who worked in the make-up and special effects department.
Countdown to Destruction had FIIIIVVE years of build-up for this one satisfying conclusion to the Zordon-era. And while, admittedly, it is flawed, but it still felt like it had a good story despite the two-part episode arc being badly-directed by Jonathan Tzachor in 1998. And it was a constant struggle for the Space Rangers since it was there finale, it was their personal battle. Legendary Battle, by contrast, didn't give me any form of reasons as to why I should care the Megaforce team being given this one moment where they are fighting alongside with the past Power Ranger teams who weren't even built up very properly and were just here at a last minute decision to hype up this episode. Plus, the Megaforce team didn't really do anything to prove that they deserved to be the ones leading the past ranger teams into battle or getting the recognition from Wes, Tommy, TJ, Cassie, etc. In fact, most of their seasons, the Megaforce team have been begging for Gosei to give them free stuff look it's free food at a buffet without even going through an actual story-arc to earn their new weapons and power-ups. So, no. They should have given this moment to a far better team of Power Rangers that deserved it, like the Beast Morphers team, for example. Or maybe the Hyperforce team, if the show wasn't a huge international televised live RPG web-series in 2017. If you really want to compare Super Megaforce's finale to something else, I would have suggested that you guys would have compared it to Operation Overdrive's finale, or Kamen Rider OOO's finale, Kamen Rider Zi-O's finale, Kyuuranger's finale, or even better....Disney's "Gravity Falls" or Voltron: Legendary Defender's finale. That's how you would know why they failed to deliver satisfaction to the audience and the fans.
Hell, I would even dare all of you to compare Power Rangers Dino Force Brave to Power Rangers Super Megaforce and see why the Koreans would do something that is remotely better than what the Americans failed to do back in 2014. And that would be even sadder when you think about it.
