Going back to "Destined for Greatness", it became clear that Mike was not meant to pull the Quasar Saber and become the Red Ranger but rather carry the mantle of the Magna Defender. One of the episodes I would've loved to have seen is something similar to "It's a Wonderful Life" if Mike took Leo's spot as his brother never stowed away to Terra Venture. How would Mike not only fare as a Power Ranger but how would've he led the team in Lost Galaxy?

Yeah, I am rewatching Lost Galaxy and I don't think Mike's character would ever match the body language of Ginga Red's suit actor in the stock footage of Gingaman. In fact, if Mike chose to be the red ranger after the Magna Defender's sacrifice, he'd be completely boring and too bland to watch. Plus, he wouldn't even be ranked higher on everyone else's favorite red rangers on their personal tiers. He would be ranked on the "C" or "D" columns. Now, look at Leo, he's brash and impulsive and his character fits perfectly to match the body language of Ginga Red's suit actor. Ryoma's arc in Gingaman is different from Leo's arc in Lost Galaxy. But, personality-wise, we need to have a character that is struggling to carry the weight of being the leader of the team despite the fact that he wasn't originally chosen because that fits well with the character dynamics and flaws for the protagonist to overcome. Mike is too stoic and confident to fit the role of the red ranger. And being "too stoic and confident" also means that main lead is too perfect, too bland and too boring to watch.

I think it would put Mike's character on the back foot if he became the red ranger right after returning even though Leo was doing a great job at leading the team.
Now There could be a scenario of Mike leading the team in case where Leo would be injured or abducted and ultimately gives up the mantle when Leo proves his leadership to him.
Also in near future I'd love for any female character to be the red ranger for one episode or two where the red ranger goes through identity crisis or something. Would be fun to see a girl lead the team with full support from the team unlike samurai.

Oh, how I wish we had gotten more and more female red ranger characters. I don't care if they are made exclusively for Power Rangers. That needs to happen in the near-future.

I'd have had Gia do it for an episode or two since she seemed like a strong and confident character but I guess we'll have to wait till we get another strong female character.

The Frauds!!!I'd rather go simple, red ranger has a power up, he gets injured in a battle. Someone has to lead the team, use the power up to neutralise the enemies. Everyone is low on morale, the yellow/Pink ranger steps up, takes the red rangers morpher and leads the team victoriously regardless of the battle complexities but gives back the leadership since she likes to do things her own way.
