Back then, Pilar remembers watching the Strike Dragon on television. It isn't much of the passing thought to see it more closely until now, which is actually more impressive. But this impressive moment lasts shortly as she witnesses Eddie losing his Green Ranger powers.
"Oh no." While the White Ranger isn't fond of Eddie, she really doesn't want him to be in danger in this vulnerable position. Blinking her introspective away, she glances at Doctor Connor and the unconscious Eddie before shifting her focus to her comrades.
"Come on, let's help them. We can learn about Dragonis and Eddie's powers while we're at it." Pilar tells her friends before going to the medical section to assist Doctor Connor out with the former Green Ranger.

"Right behind you," Jafaar said as he follows Pilar to the medical section where Dr. Connor is located.

"No, I got it." Dr. Connor began pulling out things he needed, shooing away those that tried to help.
Marina took a seat nearest the doctor with a worried expression. Things were going downhill fast and like the others have already been saying, something was missing and they needed to be filled in. "Doc, I get you may not want help patching Eddie up but we need you to fill in the blanks. This is more than just him being stubborn and we need to know what's going on, even if he gets angry that you said something."

“Please Doctor Connor,” Pilar pleads, walking next to Marina as she faces Doctor Connor. “I understand it’s none of our business, but we saw the whole thing and now we’re in danger thanks to Zaron having the Strike Dragon. Like Marina said, we just wanted to know why."

Duncan sat in the back of the group with his arms folded examining the situation from afar. Albeit, he wasn't the most smartest person in the group, or the one with common sense, but he was starting to add things up. From watching the video and seeing Eddie in action, there was some ideas rattling in Duncan's head.

While he was bandaging Eddie up, Dr. Connor stopped responding to the Rangers, mainly to tune them out while he worked. Once all of the proper bandages were applied, he sat on the stool and let out a deep sigh. He looked around at all of the Rangers and finally just plopped his hands down on his thighs. He looked down at the now former Green Ranger's unconscious body with an apologetic expression, knowing that he had to speak on what he and Eddie had been hesitant to talk about.
"I hope you kids are ready for story time because we might be here a while."

"Considering I'm writing a book and like listening to long stories, I'm ready," Jayden said. "Because honestly, Doc, being kept in the dark? It's getting kinda fuckin' old. Tired of piecemeal info. Give us the exposition dump, please."

"Fair enough." Dr. Connor put the extra bandages down. "I guess I have to go back all the way to beginning, before the gems came into play and before I arrived in Zen City. It was all over the local news a few years ago and about a year before the original Rangers hit the scene." Dr. Connor recalled the conversation one of the nurses at the high school had with the Rangers at the time.
"The girl in question that he was trying to cheer up just so happened to be Pilar's predecessor, Zoey Rowley. They could never prove it since the asshole who got Eddie hurt was Drake Richmond, the original Aura Striker White Ranger and school administrator who had a lot of power to sweep shit under the rug.. it still pisses me off just talking about that little shit head." Dr. Connor cleared his throat and regained his composure. "Anyway, he wanted to be Red so badly but when the gem chose someone else, the white gem found its way to him and he promptly joined the fuckers we were dealing with at the time and gave us hell but back to the story."
"So fast forward to the debut of the Green Ranger. The OGs were throwing down against one of Dr. Vance's generals and some overly polite skeleton. He came in and wrecked shop and actually was doing a lot of what he does now... pop in, kick ass, and leave but nobody knew who he was or what side he was on at the time." Dr. Connor spoke, recalling the similarities between old Eddie from a few years ago and Eddie now. "But when he did slide in and kick ass, it was usually the asses of the monsters we were dealing with. One day, after he and Strike Dragon put in work against another monster, three of Gio's generals, the White Ranger, and a monster that specializes in poison jumped him and left him near death, very similar to today but back then, the villains were too cocky, assuming that they had finished the job, same as today but this time, I was able to pull him remotely before Zaron learned from the sins of his predecessors."
Taking a moment to realize the parallels between the initial appearance of the Green Ranger and his recent efforts, including the plucky young team although the OGs were more talkative, yet respectful while the new crew was stubborn as hell. "So when he got to the hospital, it was revealed that Eddie was the Green Ranger, even though he should have been in a coma but Nurse Kelly, an old friend of the OGs broke it down for us..."
Dr. Connor stopped talking for a moment, mainly to get a glass of water and also to let the Rangers process what he just said, seeing as though it was only part of the story.

Jayden's arms folded over his chest as he listened to Doc's story. "So...he was in a coma but got bodyjacked by this Dragonis. Knew the dude was a hell of a fighter, but holding off something that evil? Fuck me, I wouldn't have been able. Stronger then I am," he said, looking at Eddie.

Pilar mulls it over after listening to Doctor Connor's tale. Everything that happens until now makes much more sense. "Can't say I'm surprised. Now I understand why Eddie has been through so much. You included." She says. "What happened next?"

"So here's the thing. The initial jacking was just the tip of the iceberg." Dr. Connor began. "The OG's had a tough choice to make. If they woke him up out of his second coma, they risked freeing Dragonis, a foe that it was likely that they couldn't beat and could possibly conquer the world. If they let Eddie fall under, it was a good chance that the kid would die. So with every reason to leave him dead, they chose to save him." Dr. Connor paused, letting the ramifications of their decision sink in for a moment.
"So he woke up and didn't remember anything. We had to fill him in and he initially chose not to fight anymore. He tried to live a normal life but when an immortal demon forces himself upon you and indirectly trains you, your body can't help itself. Eventually, he saw that his friends were in trouble and he picked up the morpher again, joining the fight. And when he joined the team, it took them to another level. The six of them were GREAT together! It was like fucking magic! He even helped them better manage their powers when piloting the zords. We did have one hiccup though. When he got control of his powers, he couldn't summon Strike Dragon and to add insult to injury, Dragonis finally made his presence known and joined up with Dr. Vance and his band of merry bastards. His first act... just like Zaron was to take control of Strike Dragon. Eddie managed to regain control of ol' SD but their next move was just filthy." Dr. Connor stopped to take another drink.
"So those fuckers decided to lure the Rangers to school by making a fake social media post, claiming that the Rangers would be getting interviewed that day. Once everything was in place, Dr. Vance's goons launched a full scale attack on the school, including OG Golems and monsters that they already beat before. Once things were going in our favor, we got a visit from Dragonis himself who wasn't willing to risk another plan going awry..."
The cunning horseman stepped forward while students were still evacuating. Once he came into view, Karl spotted the demon and instantly fired a shot with his Axe in its blaster mode. Dragonis swatted the shot away and fired one of his own, knocking Karl off of his perch, sending him flying.
"No!" Devin saw his boy getting knocked out and in anger, the Yellow Ranger attacked the horseman head on and Dragonis was able to dodge with ease before connecting with a big boot to the Yellow Ranger's gut.
"I remember that moment like it was yesterday. Hell I still have nightmares, hearing the screams of my team before they took their last breaths. Their communicators were damaged so I couldn't teleport them." Dr. Connor started getting choked up, not caring that tears were falling from his face. "I thought I lost all six of them but by some miracle, Eddie survived. It turns out that it wasn't some miracle or some stroke of luck. Because those powers were still tied to Dragonis, when the attack happened, he was protected from death because of those dark powers and to add insult to injury, Eddie was forced to go through the rubble and find the gems that had reverted back to their original form and pluck those items off of the dead bodies of his friends before Dragonis or his goons could come and collect." Dr. Connor let out a heavy sigh.
"So it's not your common survivor's guilt. It's a deadly blend of that, PTSD, heartbreak, fear, and rage all rolled into one for the kid. It fucked me up but it REALLY fucked him up, especially since he and I had to lie to all of their parents about how they got caught up in that blast and not at least tell them that they were all some fucking heroes! Sadly, the kid hasn't been right since." Dr. Connor looked down at Eddie, feeling his own remorse and sorrow over losing the OGs and not being really able to help him grieve in a healthy way.

Jafaar felt his heart clench from what had happened, a chill rippling through his spine. "My God, Doc. That... Jesus," he said, unable to get the right words out.

Jayden sighed softly, listening to Dr. Connor. He looked at Eddie and clenched his hands before taking his Caller in hand. "That's why he doesn't want us doing this. So we don't end up as five more tallies on a murderers belt," he said. "And why he's tried to rush in and finish it all before we get a chance." He shook his head, putting his Caller back in his pocket.
"I'm gonna be out of line, Doc, so I apologize now. All of this should have been told to us months ago. Especially when Eddie first showed up and tried making us give up our powers. We could have had a chance to show him we weren't going to be another set of dead kids. Yeah, Marina almost died because of Repulsa, Pilar almost became the Invisible Woman, Jafaar nearly killed his friend because of a monster, and Duncan had his shit rocked by Wrestlemania reject, but we powered through and proved we can do this. If he gave us a chance, he'd have seen that instead of this happening."
He shook his head, deciding it was better just to shut up. "So what happened to his powers? Zaron took the Strike Dragon, and his powers faded out. Is that the reason he kept jumping in, killing shit, and disappearing without even so much as flipping us off or yelling at us to give up?"
