Power Rangers Dino Steel

"Here we go!" Aaron called for his Steel Edge Saber, holding it in his familiar reverse grip. Instead of choosing to clash head on, the Black Ranger jumped up, throwing a kick at the head of the Crusader.

Rina dodged out of the way with a roll, popping back up in time to lash out and hit the Crusader in the side, knowing that a full frontal assult was basically suicide from his sheer size alone.

The Crusader barely felt the kick to the head, swinging out and hitting the Black Ranger with his massive hammer, sending him flying down the street. He twisted and punched Rina in the stomach, slamming her into the ground. "Ahahahaha! And teh Overseer is afraid of all of you!?" he asked, sliding to a stop and narrowing his eyes. "Perhaps if all five of you were here, then it'd be a challenge!"

"Aaron, use the PterIce Soul! Rina, the BrachiChain Soul might be able to help you out!" Alpha's voice said over the morpher.

JT saw Kida speak her truth and it was something that caused her to pause and think. All of her life, she had been surrounded by people who loved the Ranger lifestyle or those who may not have wanted to be Rangers but still were more than willing to slip into the spandex whenever necessary but to see someone who wasn't as keen on being a Ranger anymore was jarring to say the least. While she was still eager to continue the Ranger life, she understood that Kida was at a different point in her life and for a moment, it made her ponder some things.

"Maybe you just answered your own question." JT spoke softly. "The Morphin' Grid or whatever omnipotent shit that chose us knows what it needs and for a unique enemy, it needed a unique blend of Rangers that either live for this like me or Jaxon, someone like you who seem to want this the least but are motivated the most."

"So to put it simply, I think you were chosen because like JT said, you are someone who's dependable." Jaxon stated.

Kida sighed, her hands clenching. "I'm tired of being depended on," she said. "My oldest is almost sixteen. My twins are...are....seven, eight. They're old enough. I want to be done with the Ranger thing and just...work on myself. I've got stacks of shit in this fucked up head of mine that needs to be sorted through. Shit no counciler has ever been able to sift through."

"Like what?" Jameson asked.

Kida bit her lip, pushing her sleeves up and rubbing some dirt on her forearms, scars from self-inflicted cuts taht never healed standing out. "I tried to kill myself at fourteen. Because of my father."

The Black Ranger slowly got back to his feet after getting rocked by the Crusader and his massive hammer. "I'm definitely gonna feel that tomorrow." He rubbed the back of his next as Alpha's voice rang through his morpher. "PterIce?! It's about damn time!" The Black Ranger took the PterIce soul from his belt and slammed it into his saber, triggering a chilling transformation.

PTERICE ARM rang out from the Saber, a chill sweeping over the Black Ranger as his suit gained armor. As a shinobi who specialized in ice style jutsu, there was a bit of frustration that his chakra was pretty much unusable while in Ranger form, so being able to use the ice type soul was more than welcome to his ears where he could really maximize its potential.

"The Overseer is afraid for a reason!" The Black Ranger rejoined the battle with a frosty aura surrounding him while donning the PterIce armor. "Maybe it's time to show you why!"

Rina quickly put the BrachiChain Soul into her Sword and chomped the handle, gaining the one arm of armor. "Let's see how this works," she said, narrowing her eyes. She twisted her hand and increased the graity around the Crusader, trying to crush him into the ground.

The Crusader laughed, forcing himself up and charging forward, breaking RIna's grasp on him before he swung out and hit the Green Ranger with his hammer, knocking her down. "Nice try, girly. Leave the battle fo your Black Ranger friend," he laughed.

JT grew considerably quiet for a moment as she listened to Kida's words, culminating with her revelation of her suicide attempt. "I'm sure whatever your father did was horrible but let's forget about that scumbag for a minute. We know you miss your family. Hell I miss mine too but right now, our only way out is victory." She explained. "Even if we were able to get home right now, what would your family think if you bailed when the multiverse as stake?"

"She's right, Kida. You're the most dependable one of us. You have to stay strong," Jameson said.

"I'm tired of being strong," Kida said, looking at her friends. "I...I know what I have to be. I know, I really do. I..." She sighed, rubbing her head softly and sitting down on the rocks. "I don't know....I guess I just miss everything more since watching that fucking bit of me and David. I miss my friends, my family, my Rangers. Hell, I even miss Commander Cruger. I'm sorry, guys. I keep doing this."

"What?" Mayumi asked.

"DOubting myself," the Red Ranger said. "I keep thinking I'm not good enough to be in the Red, but something clearly thinks otherwise. I wish I knew how to keep the brave face instead of letting the facade crack and show the broken girl under the badass I put on."

Jaxon went over to Kida and grabbed her hands in his gently. "Your not alone. We've all gone through some terrible things in life. One way or the other, we've all had to fake a smile and put on a brave face and keep moving. It's easy to look at people and make judgements about you because until now, we've all been judging each other because we've only seen what's in front of us and not what likes beneath the skin. Hell, I did it to you. For that I'm sorry. Maybe that's why we are here. To expose all the things we've been hiding within, bottling it up, and in your words putting on a brave face." Jaxon said as he continued to hold Kida's hands.

"We put on brave faces and do what we do to save those from suffering or whom are about to suffer like we did. To save them from a path that may or may not ever return. I remember something I actually learned from Nolan no less.." Jaxon said as he chuckled and then looked at JT, smiled, and turned his attention back to Kida.

"The past won't change no matter how much you try to change it and opinions don't define you, however it can motivate you to do better, be better. Take your father for instance. I can imagine he said or done some nasty, degrading, and hateful things. But look at what it's done for you. You made it to SPD and became not only a cadet but a ranger and hell, a Kamen Rider and a proud wonderful mother of 3 children. Something your father will never be capable of doing. You may not realize it, but you took what your father said and you made it a mindset, a goal to prove him wrong and look at where you are. You've accomplished a lot of things." Jaxon continued.

"You don't have to be strong all the time. I'd bet my life that there is not a ranger on any multiverse that didn't have a breaking point whether they were noobs or veterans like us. Comes with the territory. You can cry, curse out loud, whatever you feel like you need to do to let it go. But its what you do after that makes all the difference in the world. That's why the grid chose you. Not because your reliable or dependable. Hell anyone can be that. The grid chose you because after all the bull you put up with in your years, every time you fell down, you got back up. You kept moving forward. You've got grit. Not only that, look around you. You got 7 former rangers, a sentient robot and a floating wizard head that are not only fighting with you but will pick your ass up and rally you on if you fall. We got you. Rangers are a family." Jaxon said as he looked at Kida and pulled her in for a hug.

"Ehh, it comes out in episodes. Runs in the family. Ask JT." Jaxon stated as he started laughing while folding his arms.

"10 years? The way I heard it, Nolan was cracking them out every chance he got!" Jaxon said as he started laughing. "JT's right. We got you girl." Jaxon stated.

The Crusader yelled out, spinning out of control from the Blizzard Slash. He hit a wall, crashing into the ground with Rina restoring his gravity. "Ah!"

"The hell!?" Aaron looked back at Crusader, shocked that this bulky foe was still breathing. "That should have killed the big bitch!"

"Ok...normally that'd kill a motherfucker," Rina said, looking at Aaron. "I don't want to say it, but....should we call in reinforcements?"

Aaron wanted to say no and stay the course. None of his old foes from Konoha were brutes, so fighting someone so reliant on power would be great to hone his skills but doing so and hogging the fight to himself would be hypocritical. Plus, he tended to fight better with others in attendance anyway. "I'd say no...but if this drags out, he's liable to do even more damage to the city." Aaron sighed, seemingly saddened by the next words to come out of his mouth. "Make the call."

Kida smiled softly. "Thanks, guys," she said. "I wonder how the others are doing."

"Well, we haven't heard anything," Jameson said. "Hopefully they'll be alright."

"They're probably having the time of their lives right now dealing with that guy." JT folded her arms, wishing that she could have been out in the field deal with the Overseer's newest threat.

"Like a favorite wrestler and comic book character of mine used to say " It's Clobberin Time!" Jaxon stated as he jumped up when he heard the other rangers needing back up.
