RAINBOW RAILERS
Episode 1: All Aboard! Heroes Arise!
"Alright people let's get this Show on the road!" Yelled Conductor Ford to his crew. Many of the trains employees were hustling and bustling about pressing bright colorful buttons as the Rainbow Rail's whistle blew loudly. The Conductor sat back in his chair watching his employees hard at work.
"Alright folks, we should be arriving in Gold Haven within the next Twenty Minutes. Son would you like to do the honors?"
"Yes sir!" Said the young man who stepped forward from behind his father's seat. The man had a shine in his eye as he approached a golden lever, gripping it tightly, and pushed it forward. The whistle blew loud as the Train began to move.
The entire crew began to cheer and toss their hats into the air as The Rainbow Rail took off, as golden train tracks began to appear out of thin air and extended far and wide. D'Shawn, the young man who had been given the honors of starting the train, stared out of the window as clouds floated on by at high speeds. They were finally headed back to Gold Haven.
The feeling of a hand happened on his shoulder as he looked back and saw his best friend Liz smiling at him as he walked up beside him looking out of the window.
"When's the last time you felt this energy huh? Everyone is in high spirits... it's been a whole 3 years since we last saw the city." Liz said softly as D'Shawn grinned from ear to ear.
"Yeah... it's been that long? I can't wait to see everyone's faces when the Rainbow Rail touches down." D'Shawn smiled again turning to Liz. "Hey Liz... I was thinking. When we get to Gold Haven would you maybe want to-" whatever D'Shawn was about to say was cut off by the Conductor's booming voice.
"D'Shawn! Liz! A word please."
The two traded a look before heading over to Conductor Ford who stood tall and proud as he holds a briefcase in his hands.
"You two are some of the hardest working members of this crew. For the past 3 years I've been preparing you both for the inevitable day where I have to hand over my position to someone and quite honestly I don't see that happening for anyone but you two. That's not all I've been training you two for as you know already."
Conductor Ford opened the briefcase revealing silver bracelets with train designs on them.
"You two have shown the physical and mental capabilities to wield this power. These are your Rail Morphers. No more training simulations... no more talk. You two are ready to become Power Rangers."
D'Shawn and Liz looked on wide eyed then at each other before grabbing the bracelets putting them on their wrists.
"Well these are quite fashionable. But not what I imagined a morpher to look like." Liz looked the bracelet over.
"The Morphers transform once they've registered your voices and DNA. Once you've activated with the key phrase 'Morphin' time' the bracelets transform. After that insert these." Ford handed the two small toy train looking devices.
"These are your Rainbow Railers. Inserting them in the morpher activates the transformation sequence." Ford handed D'Shawn the red Railer Train and Liz the Pink Railer train as the reality of the situation finally set in for them both.
"But dad... will we even have to use these? I mean it's been nothing but smooth sailing for decades since your peace treaty with... you know." D'Shawn asked as he fiddled with his railer.
"This is true... but it's good to always be prepared." Ford responded
"Sir... what about the other three Railers... there used to be 5 of you right?" Liz pointed out.
"There were... but you two will have to do for now, and it's as D'Shawn said.. there has been no need for Power Rangers in quite some time. Now back to to your stations. We'll be landing soon enough." Ford closed the case and handed it to a crew member as he sat down. D'Shawn and Liz gave a small salute chuckling as they did so knowing how much it irked the Conductor who shooed them away.
"Heh. Man I can't wait to see Gold Haven! And I know the people can't wait to see us. I can't think of a single person who wouldn't want to see the Rainbow Rail!"
"Who cares about the Rainbow Rail?" Ravi asked looking outside of the tinted limousine window as people gathered outside on the streets.
"There's nothing special about it... it's a train. Who hasn't been on a train?" Ravi stopped looking as he put his chin in the palm of his hand as he looked over to his father.
"Son let the people have their fun. We have business to attend to anyways. Today you get to sit in on a meeting that could very well help shape the company in a way that will make your inevitable take over that much more of a success."
"I've been meaning to talk to you about that Dad..." Ravi began to speak softly before his father raised a finger up to pause him.
"One second son... have to take this call." Rashad Patel said as Ravi sighed looking back out of the window.
"Look alive people! We don't have much time before that dang Rainbow Trolley gets here."
A heavy set man barked out as he put a cigar in his mouth watching people move about like busy worker ants.
"Uh... Mr. Sampson, it's actually the Rainbow Rail." A chirpy voice pointed out as the man known as Mr. Sampson spun around to see his favorite writer Tracy walk through the office door.
"Tracy! Glad you could make it! You hungry? Stephanie! Get Tracy here a bagel! Stat!" Sampson yelled out to a young woman who looked up over her mountain of paper work.
"B-but sir... you ate the last one." She protested.
"Well then I suppose you should be going to grab us some more then shouldn't you?!" Sampson barked.
"Mr. Sampson it's fine... Really. I have lunch coming anyway." Tracy explained seeing uneasiness forming on Steph's face. Tracy wasn't always comfortable that Mr. Sampson often made it clear his favoritism leaned towards her.
Just then a knock at the door. "Delivery for Tracy Stevens!" A voice called out from behind the office door.
One of the workers opened it up and a young man with a plastic bag of food came stumbling in knocking the worker over. "Oh! So sorry I didn't mean to!" The young man tried to apologize but as he backed up he bumped into another who tripped and spilled hot coffee onto another employee who screamed in agony.
Tracy jumped up and shook her head before walking over to Jake. Patting him on the back before taking her lunch. "Thanks Jake..."
"One chili cheese burger, no mayo... uh There were fries but I got hungry on the way..." He said sheepishly.
"It's okay, I don't need the extra carbs anyway..." Tracy giggled looking outside of the window. "Ooh people are starting to gather down there. Let's get going Jake! Can't write a good story from up here!"
She tugged on Jake's arm as they ran out of the room.
"Kid's got spunk! You could learn a thing or two from her Santos... now clean up this coffee." Sampson said as he took a bite out of his bagel.
"Yes sir..." Steph sighed in frustration.
The sound of a train chugging through filled the open road as the Shadow Rail pushed through the darkness. Beings with humanoid bodies and wings of dragons sailed through the air alongside the train.
"Are we ready for the attack?"
DuoBlade paced back on forth as he twirled his staff around. A cackling laugh filled the air as Lady Belmar approached the priest.
"Soon Lord DuoBlade. The Dark Hats are prepared to attack Earth. Remind me why we are attacking Gold Haven? It won't be much of a battle there." The wicked priestess questioned.
"It's simple, the Rainbow Rail touches down on this day... and with it lies the power we need to bring Lord Nemeth."
"You are willing to break the agreement? Why now?"
"Simple... there are no more Rangers to get in my way... the last remaining ranger is an old fool... we will destroy him and take the power of the Rainbow Rail for ourselves! No one will stop us now!" DuoBlade cackled as his staff glowed with a dark energy. "Soon Nemeth... you will be back and the world and it's light will belong to you."
"It's still crazy to me that you've never seen the Rainbow Rail... I don't think there's a single person in the whole city that hasn't?" Tracy said with a quizzical look on her face as she and Jake walked alongside each other on the sidewalk.
"Well Trace, ya know I've never been a lucky guy. Even as a kid, I'd either end up sick, or sleep through all my alarms, our car even broke down once. But ya know what? I'm glad they took that three year break." Jake said with a huge smile.
"Oh? Why is that?"
"Because I have been training every day for the last three years to be punctual. I am a punctuality ninja! And besides I got you as my lucky charm! Or at the very least I'll get to read your story on it." Jake grinned from ear to ear.
"Dummy, I'm not letting you miss it this time. Scouts honor!" She gave a salute.
"I don't think you've ever been in the scouts... but the sentiment is still appreciated!" Jake laughed as they encountered a large group on the sidewalk. Both sides of the street were blocked off by police and barriers.
The street was made clear for the arrival of the Rainbow Rail as the crowd's energy could be felt throughout the entire block. Excitement filling the air as a portal in the sky suddenly opened up and there was a roar of cheers
That's when the Rainbow Rail Appeared through the portal as golden tracks extended out and landed on the street grounds. The Rainbow Rail chugged along and blew its whistle as children jumped for joy and parents shared loving smiles. The side doors slided open as Conductor Ford stepped out giving a wave to the people of Gold Haven.
"Hello all! I am Conductor Ford! And it has been a long three years my friends... but I assure you we are back and ready to give back to the wonderful city of Gold Haven!"
The crowd hooped and hollered for the Rainbow Rail and Jake's eyes gleamed with excitement. Tracy giggled seeing her best friend light up at everything happening.
"Wooooo Trace! Ya hear that?!" Jake fist pumped the air with a toothy grin as the Conductor went on with his announcement.
D'Shawn looked out the window of the Rainbow Rail seeing all the people and his smile never faded. "Wow... look at all these people Liz..."
Liz smiled but it quickly turned into a look of concern as she stared at her monitor, she quickly motioned a crew member over and pointed at something. "Hey... does this look normal to you?" The crew member stared and shook his head profusely as he ran outside and towards the Conductor.
D'Shawn hopped up from his seat as he rushed over to see Liz's screen. "What's going on Liz?"
"According to these changes in the area's atmosphere it looks like another portal is opening up like how we did taking the Rainbow Rail from Gold Realm..." Liz pushed a couple more buttons. "Is this...?"
Conductor Ford leaned over as a crew member whispered in his ear. Ford looked alarmed and then panicked when a black hole began tearing through the sky. The air began to feel dry as static could be felt all around.
That's when the portal opened and a charcoal black train descended from the sky and rolled up some yards across from the Rainbow Rail. Ford turned and watched as DuoBlade and Lady Belmar stepped out of the train. The crowd in the area looked on in horror and fear as the two monsters stood menacingly.
"Are we late for the celebration Conductor Ford?" DuoBlade cackled a bit twirling his staff.
"What are you doing here DuoBlade? You have no business in the Earth Realm."
"We're just enjoying the festivities same as these people. However I come bearing bad news... we will be taking the Rainbow Rail after today..." DuoBlade glared at the Conductor menacingly as a loud gasp was heard among the crowd.
"DuoBlade... must I remind you of the agreement between Gold Realm and Dark Realm? We are in a truce..." Ford gave a glance to D'Shawn and Liz who stood by the doors watching quietly.
"Well Ford... looks like I'm making a change to our agreement... I want the Rail... now..." DuoBlade demanded as he raised his staff and let out a blast of dark energy hitting a building as the crowd screamed and began to scatter. Chunks of the building fell off and landed on a couple of parked cars. DuoBlade cackled as his train's doors opened as a few stumbling creatures tumbled out of the train.
"Dark Hats... get your act together.... our takeover begins now!" He ordered as the Dark Hats began to swarm the streets attacking the civilians.
Conductor Ford sprung into action pulling out a Rail Blaster.
He took cover behind a car firing some shots at the Dark Hats. He looked over at D'Shawn and Liz once more and gave a nod as the two ran back inside of the train.
Meanwhile Ravi and his father looked outside seeing the street in chaos. "Turn the car around!" Mr. Patel ordered the driver. "Sir I can't we're backed up in traffic!"
"Dad we gotta do something!" Ravi watched as he saw some people scramble around trying to escape. He then noticed an elderly woman whose leg got trapped under some rubble.
"Son that is none of our concern. Let the authorities handle this... hey! Where are you going?" He looked on in horror as Ravi unlocked the car door and began to run out.
"I gotta help!" Ravi rushed towards the woman and ran into some Dark Hats. He juked around them as he got low and gave a sweep kick to one. He popped up to his feet and push kicked another. He got to the woman and lifted up the rubble freeing her. He grabbed her arm and put it around his neck lifting up as he provided her support getting her to a safe spot.
Jake and Tracy had immediately gotten themselves involved as well helping people escape the madness as best as they could. Suddenly they were surrounded by Dark Hats who stared at them with cruel intentions for sure. "Go, get to safety!" Tracy yelled out as she pushed a Dark Hat over, knocking it down. She ducked a swiping strike giving a knee to the Hat doubling it over.
Jake on the other hand took a different approach. He put his hands up as if saying hold on and the Dark Hats actually paused waiting for him. Jake dug into his pockets and pulled out a handful of change. "I don't suppose you guys will just leave our planet for... one... thirteen.... fifty six cents in change?" The Hats actually seemed enamored with the coins. Jake nodded with a big smile as he watched. The Hats pocketed the money and tipped their hats to Jake before swinging their swords at him.
Jake stumbled back barely evading the sword as he kicked his feet wildly knocking a Dark Hat into another. He sidestepped a punch as the Dark Hat ended up hitting a light pole, it held its hand and yelled out some gibberish as Jake looked at it. "Aww man... you okay?" The young man asked it as it shook its head no. The two exchanged a loom for a moment before Jake ran off being chased by it, but in came Tracy with a palm strike to its jaw area dropping it.
Conductor Ford blasted left and right taking out Dark Hat after Dark Hat. "DuoBlade Call off this assault or I will destroy you!"
"Bah don't make me laugh Ford! You humans age so disgustingly... you're no longer in your prime Lionel... this city and more importantly the Rainbow Rail will be mine... who's going to stop me?" DuoBlade cackled as more Dark Hats rushed out onto the streets.
"I'm not the one going to stop you this time..." Ford said firing a few more blasts at some Hats.
D'Shawn and Liz heard the Conductor's words and looked at each other.
D'Shawn stared at his silver bracelet "Guess its time to put that training to the test."
"Yeah... I'm with you D... we got this." Liz said reassuringly.
"Alright let's do this!" D'Shawn shouted as he and Liz stood ready.
"It's Morphin Time!" The two said in unison as their bracelets began to glow and were transformed into new devices.
"Railer Set! Ranger Mode!" The two inserted their Railers into the morphers as they then pressed a button on the side.
"All Aboard!" The device called out as the two were surrounded in a bright light, D'Shawn in Red and Liz in Pink, a small virtual train was shot out of the device as the respective colored light of the rangers covered them from the neck down in a suit. The small train circled around their heads as small train tracks wrapped around forming their visors.
"Pink Rail Ranger!"
"Red Rail Ranger!"
DuoBlade noticed a flash of lights coming from inside the train and narrowed his four eyes. Suddenly laser blasts hit all around him dropping some Dark Hats as ontop.of the Rainbow Rail stood two Power Rangers.
"What?! No... Rangers?!" Lady Belmar screeched as she high tailed it back into the Shadow Rail. DuoBlade scoffed at the Colorful duo and fired a shot of energy at them, to no avail as the two leapt off of the train into battle.
The Pink Ranger hit the ground and did a forward roll pulling out her Rail Blaster and fired some heads shots out the gate neutralizing Dark Hats. She rolled backwards as a Hat tried stomping down on her. She kicked its leg out making it fall backfirst before she stood up and unloaded a barrage of blasts onto it.
Red Ranger unfolded his Rail Blaster turning it into a small blade.
Red shoulder checked a Dark Hat while he spun around and slashed another as sparks flew off of the monster. A Hat swung at Red who bicycle kicked the arm away knocking out the sword in hand. He then gave a big backhanded slash on the Hat sending in flying into a group of Hats.
DuoBlade snarled as he watched his minions fall into heaps on the ground as The two Rangers regrouped side by side across from the Dark Priest.
"How about you just turn around and go back to where you came?"
"Yeah I'm sure they miss your vibrant energy over there!"
"You must be new... normally there's Five of you..." DuoBlade twirled his staff as he paced.
"Well we like to keep our parties fairly small these days. And you sir are a party foul. So Again, turn back now or we'll be forced to take further action!"
Ravi at this point got the old woman to the paramedics who were rushing on scene. As he looked bacl the way he came he saw what looked to be a standoff between The monster referred to by the Conductor as DuoBlade and Two Power Rangers. "Rangers? We haven't had Rangers here in years..." Ravi pulled out an empty pocket realizing his phone wasn't in it. Ravi squinted his eyes and saw his phone back where he had ran from. "Well the creepy Hats seem to be where they are... I gotta get my phone." The young man looked around to make sure the coast was clear before moving back towards his phone.
Jake threw a chair at some of the Dark Hats sending them crashing to the ground as Tracy continued showing off her martial arts skills. "Jake we gotta get going!" She exclaimed.
"Trace! Look! Power Rangers!" Jake pointed out excitedly as Tracy turned around and indeed saw the rangers.
"Maybe we should get a closer look... I can write a report on this for the Paper." Tracy nudged Jake who nodded in agreement as they inched closer to the action, hiding behind some cars. They were soon joined by another young man in a business suit who crouched beside them as he picked up his phone.
"Hey... um... what are you guys doing?" Ravi asked the two.
"Shhh... we're watching the Rangers in action..." Jake shushed Ravi who gave him a raised eyebrow before watching on intently.
DuoBlade shook his head at the Two Rangers before him. "You two are out of your league... allow me to demonstrate why!" DuoBlade ran at the Rangers swinging his staff at them. Red rolled under the swing as Pink jumped back firing shots with her blaster. DuoBlade evaded the shots with ease as he kicked Red right in the chest pushing him back. He then spun and cracked Pink on the side with his staff. Red came in with his bladed rail blaster swiping down, but was parried by the staff. "You're nothing like the last Red Ranger... he at least provided a challenge!" DuoBlade pushed him back and fired a beam of energy hitting him square in the chest. Sparks flew from his suit as he flew back.
Pink came to back up her comrade swinging with her blade. DuoBlade grabbed her by the wrist and turned her around as he struck her back with his staff. She fell down as he punt kicked her across the street right next to Red Ranger.
DuoBlade howled in laughter as he then fired a blast of energy at the Rangers sending them down to the ground as an explosion happened around them.
"Ahhh!"
"Agh!"
"They need help..." Tracy said as she watched on wide eyed in horror as the Power Rangers were struggling with whatever that being was.
"Okay... and what do you propose we do? They're POWER RANGERS... and we're not... what help could we even-" Ravi was immediately cut off by Jake.
"Hey get away from them ugly!" Jake said throwing a rock at DuoBlade.
"Are... are you an idiot?" Ravi asked practically jaw dropped.
"Nah I'm Baptist." Jake replied absent-minded as he threw another rock.
"What?! How dare you throw a rock at me? DuoBlade. Feared through all of-" The dark priest was struck by another rock this time from Tracy.
"Leave the Rangers alone ugly!" Tracy yelled out as she pelted the monster with rocks alongside Jake.
"Wretched humans! You have disrespected me for the last-" This time a rock went right into his mouth. Jake and Tracy looked over at Ravi.
"What? I used to play baseball..." Ravi shrugged as the three continued their rock assault.
Their actions had bought the Rangers enough time to get on their feet as they fired their blasters knocking DuoBlade onto his back.
"Gah! You treacherous creatures!" DuoBlade snarled as he used his staff to stand. "Enough of these games! Understand this Rangers I will tear this city apart. But it's clear even now you don't posses the power to defeat me! I'm going to give you ten minutes to decide whether you will hand over the Rainbow Rail... or I have to destroy you all to get it... loom at your forces Rangers... they can't last much longer."
The Red and Pink Ranger looked behind them and saw DuoBlade wasn't lying. Many crew mates laid out on the ground. Many wounded, some worse, even the Conductor looked exhausted with the battling. DuoBlade tapped his staff on the ground as another large wave of Dark Hats appeared out of the Shadow Rail. The Priest headed back towards the Shadow Rail turning only to speak again. "Time starts now..."
"Liz... what are we going to do?" D'Shawn asked softly as the two turned to each other having a discussion.
"I don't know... we don't have enough fire power to fight him like this... the Dark Hats are one thing... but DuoBlade is a whole other issue... we need back up..."
D'Shawn stood their for a moment in thought as he looked over to the three people who had helped them out. "I have an idea... you won't like it though..."
Before Liz could inquire what the Red Ranger's plan was he rushed over to the three individuals still with rocks in their hands. "Oh boy..."
"Trace...Trace... he's coming over here! The Red Ranger is coming over here!" Jake shook Tracy's arm with excitement.
"Hey. Thank you guys for the help, extremely dangerous what you guys did though..." The Red Ranger put his hand on Jake's shoulder.
"I am a HUGE fan Mr. Red Ranger sir!" Jake shook the Ranger's hand eagerly.
"Uh..." The Ranger turned to Ravi and Tracy almost as if asking for help.
Tracy spoke up immediately. "Uh what he means is we saw you guys struggling a bit and we didn't know what else to do."
"You guys looked like rookies out there honestly..." Ravi said crossing his arms as he received a punch in the arm from Tracy "Ow!"
"Look I need you guys to come with me please. I'm out of options and could really use your help."
The three could hear the sincerity in the Red Ranger's voice and all nodded collectively as he led them over to the Conductor and the Rainbow Rail. The Pink Ranger made her way over as The Conductor looked up from tending to a fallen worker.
"Sir... DuoBlade is stronger than we thought... even with your warning about him... he's a whole different level than the training simulations showed us. Sir.. we can't fight him again alone."
"Well it's not like we have other Rangers to call on for back up...."
"Well... that's the next thing I wanted to bring up..."
Conductor Ford blinked and then looked at the three civilians seeing what his son was getting at. "D'Shawn... are you insane? You want to give these three the ability to become Rangers?!"
"You want to what?!"
"Become what..." Ravi stared in disbelief.
"You're kidding me..." Tracy responded.
"YES!" Jake exclaimed, as everyone else paused to give him a look before returning to the conversation at hand.
"Look we don't have the time to go and train new recruits and none of the crew members have the skill and the morphers weren't compatible with any of them. These guys showed spirit out there... worse case scenario the morphers don't work for them either and we end up fighting DuoBlade with just the two of us... Dad... we have to try... if you three are willing that is. Even if just for right now we need all the help we can get."
"Dad?" Ravi questioned and then took everything in that was said. "You want us to become Rangers? This is not how I saw today going..."
"I mean... do we really have a choice... not like that but.. if we don't Gold Haven is in risk of being taken over by that freak!" Tracy looked at everyone with a bit of uncertainty.
"So like do we get to pick our colors... Two Red Rangers can be a thing right? Oooh what about Orange? Never seen an orange ranger before! I can be the first!" Jake began rambling as Ravi shook his head at the man.
Conductor Ford looked at the three and began realizing D'Shawn was right. They had little choice and if these three were indeed compatible with the morphers it would be an injustice to not give them a chance.
Ford without a word motioned for everyone to join as the doors of the Rainbow Rail opened up. Everyone piled inside of the train as Ford pulled out a briefcase with the remaining 3 bracelets inside.
"You three are about to wield powers granted by the Rainbow Rail... your efforts out there were surely noticed and if it is meant to be you will become Rainbow Railers... this power can help protect our city and potentially the world. I understand if this is asking too much of you... honestly I have my reservations as well. But my son is right... we have no other options. So it is up to you to accept the power of the Rainbow Rail."
The room was silent for a moment before Jake stepped up.
"I'm not the best fighter... but I do love this city... and I mean... I've never seen the Rainbow Rail in person before... and now I'm standing inside of it... I'll do my best to protect it. I'm in." He said as he took a bracelet and put it on.
"The Rainbow Rail is everything to this city... and the Power Rangers were always the ones to protect us... and now the Rainbow Rail needs is to protect it... plus first hand experience with it will definitely help the written pieces at work. I'm in too." Tracy grabbed her bracelet and put it on.
Ravi was hesitant as he looked around at everyone. "Look... I don't have the same sentiment about the Rainbow Rail like you all... don't get me wrong I don't think it should fall into the hands of that creep outside either though... but this city... I love it... and the people need the Rangers to look out for them... so I'm in for that." Ravi said walking up and taking the third and final bracelet putting it on.
Conductor Ford looked at the five young people before him and sighed before standing tall. "Listen here. We make our stand and show DuoBlade that Gold Haven indeed has protectors. He will not take the Rainbow Rail without a fight. D'Shawn will instruct you on how to activate the morphers. Good luck Rangers."
DuoBlade stepped out from the Shadow Rail with Lady Belmar by his side as he sneered seeing no one outside other than the scared and curious civilians waiting to see what was about to happen next.
"You see my love? The Rangers are weak... they don't have a full team anymore! We have scared them into submission... Gold Haven will be ours and more importantly The Rainbow Rail!" DuoBlade cackled.
"Oh my! You are so powerful DuoBlade... ooooh can I have Gold Haven for myself? It's a Wretched little town and I'd love to rule over these pathetic humans." Belmar stroked DuoBlade's arm as she giggled.
"Of course my lady.... Ford! Have you come to your senses yet? You can't hope to defeat me! Your efforts are for nothing... surrender so we can end this pointless fighting!"
DuoBlade waited patiently before seeing a flash of lights emerge from the Rainbow Rail and into the sky. The lights descended down to the ground as suddenly DuoBlade and Belmar were faced with five Power Rangers now!
"Ahhhhh there's five of them now?!" Belmar shrieked as she high tailed it back to the Shadow Rail.
"No... impossible... how?" DuoBlade couldn't believe it, there were only two earlier but somehow they grew in numbers.
"You looked shocked to see us. Oh well maybe it's cuz we have back up now!"
"Pink Rail Ranger!"
"Green huh? Not orange but I can dig it! Oh and also we're not gonna let you cause anymore havoc here so you might as well turn back and head home ugly!"
"Green Rail Ranger!"
"This is our city! And we'll do whatever it takes to protect it! And Jake it's not nice to make fun of someone's appearance... he was born like that. But the statement stands. Leave our city and while you're at it.... Earth!"
"Yellow Rail Ranger!"
"I don't think you understand what's about to happen if you don't heed the warnings everyone is giving you. There's only two options you seem to have. Retreat... or get wrecked."
"Blue Rail Ranger!"
"Your time is up DuoBlade! We are putting an end to all of this right here and now. Rangers! Let's do it!
"Red Rail Ranger!"
"PowerRangers Rainbow RaiLers!"
DuoBlade snarled as he pointed at the Rangers with his staff. "You've made a grave mistake... Dark Hats... attack!" DuoBlade yelled as he led the charge against the Rangers.
"Rangers let's roll!" D'Shawn the Red Ranger and the others rushed forward to the enemy.
Liz sidestepped an attempted stab from a Hat's sword as she spun around her hand beginning to glow with a pink light, suddenly a weapon began to form around her hand.
"Bridge Claw!"
Liz began swiping her claw at Dark Hats causing sparks to fly from them. She delivered a kick to another as she got low then jumped up with an uppercut strike to another Dark Hat sending it flying high into the air.
Jake found himself surrounded by Dark Hats as he raised his hands up trying to reason with them. "Look guys to be fair I haven't done anything to you! No? Not a good enough reason? Okay then..." Jake's hands began to emit a green light as a weapon materialized in them.
"Tunnel Axe! Whoah this thing is heavy!" The Green Ranger stumbled a bit forward at the weight of his weapon. He dug his feet into the ground lifting it up as he began to spin around swinging the axe as he did so slashing all of the surrounding Darkhats!
Tracy cartwheeled into action avoiding downward strikes from the Darkhats. Once she sprung to her feet her hands glowed with yellow light as her weapon began to take shape.
"Signal Hammer! Hiyaaaa!" The yellow Ranger slammed her hammer into the chest of a Darkhat sending it into orbit as she then swung low knocking over a few into another group. She planted the hammer onto the ground spinning around it to kick a couple more Hats.
Ravi delivered a well placed punch to the face of a Darkhat. He jumped over a sweep kick attempt as his hand glowed in blue light summoning his special weapon.
"Railway Trigger!" Blue Ranger rested the blaster on his forearm taking aim as it fired a double shot hitting two different Hats knocking them down. He rolled forward pressing a button on the side now rapid firing at the creatures.
D'Shawn began going through Darkhats like pieces of paper with a flurry of kicks and punches. His hand glowed with red light as his personal weapon appeared before him.
"Rail Slasher!" He called out as his sword was now gripped firmly in hand. The Red Ranger made even easier work of the Darkhats cutting them in half as they exploded away from him. He push kicked another as he parried a strike, before delivering an upward slash! He then turned his attention to DuoBlade as the other Rangers rallied beside him.
"End of the line DuoBlade! We warned you. And now you pay the price!"
DuoBlade growled as he charged the Rangers firing a blast of energy their way. The Rangers pushed through as the explosion hit behind them causing dust and smoke to rise up. DuoBlade scoffed as he swung the staff at Red who ducked. Letting out a roar when Pink scratched with her claw!
He turned to attack her but an Axe from Green struck him in the back.
Again trying to refocus his attacks when Yellow slammed her hammer into him knocking him backwards.
With no time to react blasts from the Blue Ranger rained down on the Dark Priest!
Red came falling down from the sky delivering a huge slash to DuoBlade as sparks flew and sent him rolling on the ground.
DuoBlade used his staff to get back to a stand as he looked at each of the Rangers, it was not looking good for him. He dusted himself off as he backed away slowly. "Ergh... pesky Rangers... this isn't over... not in the slightest... I will return..." DuoBlade fired one last blast as the Rangers did their best to evade it, he then ran back into the Shadow Rail as a portal opened in the sky and the Train began to move going through the portal leaving the Rangers looking up to the sky.
The people of Gold Haven finally came out from hiding as they approached the Power Rangers giving applause to the heroes. Conductor Ford walked up and looked around at the people cheering. He then turned his attention to the Rangers and smiled. Perhaps these five young individuals could be the answer to protecting the city and the Rainbow Rail.
"People of Gold Haven... I apologize! But we must cut today's event short! But fear not... we will not be going anywhere until we have ensured the safety of everyone!" Ford assured everyone as he gave a hand signal to the Rangers who were celebrating their minor victory against DuoBlade. The Rangers fell in line as they entered the Rainbow Rail.
"Power Down!" The Red Ranger called out as he along with the other four shined bright in their respective colors and in a flash were returned to their civilian clothing.
"Wow! I can't believe we did it!" Tracy said excitedly.
"Man that was a rush! Who would've thought we'd become Power Rangers." Jake said as he admired the silver bracelet on his wrist.
"Not exactly how I planned to spend my evening... but looks like that DuoBlade guy ran for the hills at least." Ravi said adjusting his tie and he patted himself on the back.
"Wrong." Liz stated as she stood with her arms crossed as the others turned giving a quizzical look. "Just because we ran him off doesn't mean anything. You heard him earlier... he made it very clear this isn't over. We only survived because we caught him off guard... results may not be the same the next time."
"N-next time?" Jake gulped.
"I'm afraid she's right." D'Shawn spoke up his hands in his pockets as he leaned against a wall. "I hate to say it but we survived by the skin of our teeth. Liz and I have trained for three years. And even we weren't able to hold him off by ourselves..."
"Both are correct." Conductor Ford put his hands behind his back pacing. "You three have a decision to make... we appreciate your efforts... and seeing that you were able to morph proves you have the capabilities to be great on our team. But I can't ask you to put your lives on the line... DuoBlade will be back and when he is I'd like for us to be ready... even if that means finding another group to wield your powers."
Ravi, Tracy, and Jake shared a look between each of them. This was definitely a lot being asked of them, risking their own lives and potentially that of their families. There was no easy answer here.
"Sir... when I was out there... fighting alongside everybody... I dunno... I felt as though I really had a purpose... I felt like for once I mattered. Like a hero." Jake said staring at the bracelet again before looking at the Conductor. "I'm still in... Gold Haven needs the Power Rangers."
Conductor Ford gave a nod with a smile seeing the genuine nobility coming from Jake.
"There's no way I can sit back and watch my best friend be a Ranger and not help him out... and this city is my home too. The Power Rangers over the years have always been a symbol of peace. I'm standing with you guys." Tracy nodded in confidence.
Ravi sighed as he stared at his own bracelet then looked up at the others. "I can't lie and say this is what I want. I'd rather not have to look over my shoulder to see if a monster is going to attack... and well... I gotta admit while it's dangerous... helping that woman... It came second nature to me... even before becoming a Power Ranger... so knowing we have this power and can help others with it... I can't in good conscious not be a part of this. So yeah I'm in." Ravi assured the team.
D'Shawn grinned at the solidarity of the crew and fellow Rangers seeming to be on board. He turned to his father and gave a salute. Liz held in a giggle as the other three quickly followed suit assuming that was the protocol. Ford scowled at his son and the new Rangers. "Do. Not. Ever. Salute. Me" he said making it very clear he was serious.
D'Shawn laughed as the others looked a bit embarrassed. "You rookies got a lot to learn here." Jake and Tracy shared a laugh at D'Shawn while Ravi gave a look of annoyance.
"Oh boy..." Conductor Ford facepalmed.
DuoBlade punched the wall as he grabbed a Darkhat and threw it to the ground firing a blast of dark energy disintegrating it instantly. "Grrr... How could this happen!"
"Well seems Ford has found new replacements for his Ranger team. What do we do now dear?" Lady Belmar asked as he kicked some DarkHat dust to the side.
"...Ford thinks he's so smart... next time we hit the city harder... even if it means finding some back up of our own." DuoBlade pondered as Belmar tilted her head.
"Oh? So then I'll put word out... a hit on the Rangers! Yes! I know many warriors who would love to destroy some Rangers!" Belmar giggled with glee as she ran off into one of the rooms coming back with a large book. "These are all of the known warriors who reside in the Dark Realm!"
"Good... let's begin putting the word out! " DuoBlade stared outside of the train as all he could see were dark clouds.
"Right away dear... but I was wondering... when is... He... set to return?"
"He knows not to return until it is found... and then the Rangers are truly doomed..." DuoBlade began to cackle as he continued staring out at the dark clouds as lightning and thunder struck.

Meanwhile in Gold Haven
Gold Haven Newspaper
Meanwhile... in the Dark Realm.
Gold Haven
Meanwhile on the Shadow Rail
