In the days that followed, Uryuu had to help the other shinobi rebuild the village after the invasion. With everything he witnessed, he needed to take his mind off. He also spend time with his parents, making sure they have each other to lean on.
Currently, the Jounin was strolling through the streets, having a millions thoughts if he'd prevent the Hokage's death in time. 'But what could he do?' he thought sadly, feeling inept that he had to stand by to see this. If only his instincts react faster. He also thought about how the others are coping, knowing their graduation day went up in ruins. The Jounin hopes they find their way to heal from this.

Davis was out running the streets. Doing his exercises to keep his mind off of the situation that happened with the hokage being slain. He also then worried about Aaron, the arrogant one, and how he was taking the hokage slaying harder than most. "Maybe I need to pay him a visit. Clear his mind. Or at least try to." Davis thought. After taking a couple of different streets and detours, he landed outside of Aaron's home. "I think knocking would be appropriate..Don't wanna startle the guy with jutsu." Davis said in thought as he walked up and knocked on the front door.

Aaron slightly raised his head, wondering who could be here on the day of the Hokage's funeral. Getting out of bed, Aaron walked to the front door, finding Davis on the other side. "What's up?" He greeted his fellow shinobi minus his bravado he's become known for throughout the village.

"Checking on you. You seemed a little out of sorts yesterday. I wanted to make sure you were OK and of clear thought. That and it's the service today. Maybe you wanted someone to go with to attend to pay respects." Davis said as he looked at Aaron.

Kumiko was at home with her Aunt and some of their neighbors. She sat on the couch curled up against her Aunt's side like she used to do when she was younger. She hadn't spoken much since the Hokage died and everyone was worried about her.

"I'm good, just getting ready for the funeral." Aaron placed his kunai in his pouch. "I appreciate the offer but I think I can manage. I'll see you there."

Deep in an unknown location, Proto stood in front of a photo of the Third Hokage, staring at the photo, still processing just how much the village is about to change with the Third Hokage's death.
"Lord Proto-sama!"
"There you are. What's your update on tracking down those children, Kabuto?"
"Yes. Naruto Uzumaki has been seen with Jiraiya and Sasuke Uchiha has been with Kakashi since the attack. No doubt that they are being shielded so they don't fall into our hands."
"Agreed. We may be able to use their overprotective tendencies against them. We will send the Sound Four to infiltrate the funeral. This time, we will go for the silent approach while capturing both Naruto and Sasuke as their abilities will prove useful. What is the status on Orochimaru??"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT AGAIN!"
"Never mind." Proto cracked a smile, hearing the Legendary Sannin throw around more glass vials while looking for a way to restore his ability to perform jutsu.

"Ah. The lone wolf takes his stroll." Davis says as he backs away from the door to let Aaron pass by. "It wouldn't hurt to take some company every now and then." Davis says as he places his hands together.

Mayumi sighed as she stepped out of the bath after a bit of a training session. She Dried off and dressed, making her way downstairs and pulled her hair up again, tucking her kunai into her belt. "Funeral today. I sincerely hope nothing happens. Anyone ruins this, my winds will cut throats."

The images were vivid as if he were there and the issue with the nightmares aren't that they seem real. The issue is that they are real.... to him. Enter Asuma Sarutobi, son of the now deceased third Hokage. The reason why Asuma wasn't present at the attack on Konoha is that he was on another mission. The mission itself was inconsequential but he volunteered in lieu of being present for the coronation as he wasn't a fan of those stuffy ceremonies and much preferred the quiet mission followed by a return in time for the banquet. It was a decision that will haunt Asuma for the rest of his life as he feels that had he been there, he could have made a difference and his father would still be alive.
The heartbroken jonin woke from his slumber, drenched in a cold sweat from the same nightmare playing over and over again with Knnoha in flames and his father's throat being sliced by Orochimaru. Slowly, Asuma began to prepare for the funeral, knowing he would be called on to speak. 15 minutes later after a shower and getting dressed, Asuma tightened his headband before walking towards the door. As he reached for the knob, what could only be described as a large shuriken blocked his path. When Asuma tried to move it, the shuriken started to spin and in its center, began to glow.
Puzzled by this new shuriken, Asuma reached out to touch it, only to be engulfed in its light. "Unbelievable..."

"I'm company enough. Thanks though." Once Aaron was outside of the home, he jumped down to the ground below and started on to the burial grounds.

An hour passed and people began to gather from far and wide to pay respects and celebrate the life of the Third Hokage. As Aaron scanned the area for familiar faces, he managed to find two being his parents.
"Mom! Dad!" Moving to the older pair, Aaron pulled them in for a heartfelt embrace.
"We took the first flight back. We're sorry that we couldn't be here for your coronation." Aaron's father said to him. His hair was brown like his son's but his beard revealed a healthy blend of brown and gray hair.
"It's those stupid airports. The flight we were supposed to be on was cancelled. Stupid airplanes!" Aaron appeared to look just like his mother in the face, minus the young shinobi's stubble. Mrs. Kane had jet black hair with a petite frame. Her youthful looks always caused those who didn't know them to confuse herself and her son for siblings and to throw judging looks at her husband for...reasons.
"It's okay. I'm glad you weren't on that other flight. If you were, you would have been here during the attack and if something would have happened to you two, who would take over as the president and vice president of my fan club!" Aaron joked partially.
"Lucky for you, you won't have to find out for a long time. Now can you ease up on the expansion jutsu. Your head is taking up too much space." Aaron's father spoke, joking in part before the family shared a laugh.

Mayumi made her way to the funeral, sighing as she stuck to a corner, watching everyone else. She sighed softly, folding her arms and seeing Aaron and his parents, clenching her hand softly as she thought of her own mother.

Uryuu arrived at the funeral with his parents beside him. He wasn't surprised he saw familiar people before him, but at least he figure he get to meet them again. When he notice Aaron with his family, the Jounin decided to check on him since he hasn't see him since that day. "Konnichiwa, Aaron-san." Uryuu greeted the Chuunin.

Davis wasn't far behind Aaron. He noticed that his family had made it to the funeral as well as other classmates. He was looking around till someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and noticed his mom had made it to the funeral. "Mom, you made it." Davis said with glee in his voice. "Yes, I told my boss that there was a death in the family. He let me have off today and tomorrow." Davis's mom smiled.

Kumiko was among the last group of people to arrive at the Konoha Cemetery and as she scanned the area for familiar faces, her eyes briefly skirted past Aaron and his parents along with Uryuu who was nearby before landing on Hayumi who was sitting by herself. As someone who missed her parents dearly, she sat next to Hayumi, offering silent support to her fellow female Chunin.

Mayumi glanced up, seeing Kumiko. She looked down, biting her lip softly. "How do you deal with it?" she asked softly. "Death. It...it terrifies me. THe lingering thought that any day I step outside could be the last. Any mission could be my last. I couldn't put my family through that." "Even though I don't even know if my own mother is still alive." she thought bitterly.

"It's not easy." Kumiko answered, thinking back to her father who was a former member of the ANBU Black Ops and lost his life during a mission. "But every time I'm on a mission and see the faces of every person I encounter who can go home to their families every night because of the work I've done, that reminds me of why we do what we do." She said, fighting back her own emotions as she knows first hand that living the shinobi life, things can change on a dime at any time.
