So I don't know if this is a pooh-poohed subject around here but does anyone actually buy the DVDs released by shout factory?I know it's an official release sanctioned by Toei ,however I've heard bad things about them. Mistimed subtitles, rather plane or bad translations, Video glitches and more. One thing that I've seen from a few clips there are online basically bland subtitles, that don't seem like they can even handle multiple characters talking at the same time.
Now of course a subbing company like over-time have bland subtitles, however number one, they are free, number two they come out like a day after the episode airs in Japan. As where these DVDs are still $54.99 .
And I'll fully admit may be to people with a lot of disposable income throwing down $60 on a whim for a TV show that you haven't seen may be nothing to you but, at least to me that seems like a lot.
I can't even find a way to purchase them on Amazon through like Amazon video, I can only purchase the DVDs, so even if I wanted to support the official release by buying I don't know the first five episodes to see if I like them that's not an option.
I know the non-collectors edition Power Rangers DVDs have been pretty lackluster to just the episodes on a disk with no subtitles. At least those are 20-ish dollars each not considering the big MMPR sets.
I honestly don't know I'm not trying to hate on the DVDs or anything. But earlier in another thread of mine people suggested I watch Kakuranger and I was going to watch the show. Now I knew the company who had subbed it earlier took their subs down for the official release so I was just gonna try to get it off Amazon. Only to be met with the six dollar price tag on a show I haven't seen a single second of. So that's where all these questions and concerns came from. I wanted some input from people who had first-hand experience with these DVDs to see if they're worth the purchase. Besides the"support the official release." Mentality.

I understand once again they are official licensed sanctioned translations. However but they don't appear to have bonus features or anything that makes them superior to online subbing.
I honestly don't know as if even as a fan of the franchise if almost $60 is worth it to pick up a show I haven't seen. And I think it's way too expensive to even recommend to people who haven't seen Super Sentai.
