xman, just an FYI, it was 2007 not 2008 when the first Power Morphicon happen as Operation Overdrive was still airing at the time it accrued back in July of that year.

Ninja Steel is weak... it lacks writing, effort and personality from any of the characters.
Operation Overdrive was a mess, had pointless plots, characters you wanted to hate and just like Ninja Steel, had maybe one character that made the show worth watching. In this case... Spencer, and that's not saying much.
One makes you want to toss the tv and the other makes you cringe. And I won't tell you which one makes me crawl in a corner and cry in pity.

Do you see me putting it on my list of favorite Power Rangers seasons?! I don't think so. Orion: Hey look at it this way. At least Ninja Steel isn't a huge pile of garbage as Ninninger was. *SHIVERS!* And don't even get me started on Kyuuranger. It was so boring, I legitimately chose not to continue watching it. And I only put up with Kyuuranger as a series because of its' Super Hero Time run with Kamen Rider Ex-Aid.

What is a Kalisploshion lol? And why don't we like Samuel Benta? 1) Kalishplosions are just a term that the fans have made up because former Disney-era Power Rangers executive producer and show-runner, Bruce Kalish had a final saying in the amount of background explosiins that were poorly-executed in SPD through Jungle Fury. But it has been argued by the fans that former Power Rangers action coordinator, Koichi Sakamoto and former Disney-era Power Rangers stunt directors and stunt coordinators, Steve McQuillan and Mark Harris are the ones who are truly responsible for the amount of poorly-executed Kalishplosions in the past four seasons under Bruce Kalish's run as show-runner for Power Rangers from 2005-2008. 2) The reason why many fans hated Samuel Benta as a human being is because back in 2008, during the very first Power Morphicon convention. The entire cast of Operation Overdrive, including Mr. Benta were invited to attend. Along with several noteable guests and actors from past seasons of Power Rangers, at the time. Four banners were going to be autographed and actioned off, so that the money would be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Mr. Benta took one of the banners for himself, got guests to sign it and has kept it for himself as proof of his evidence that he was there. He has not returned that banner to its' original owner, nor has he apologized for stealing it for himself. So yeah, Samuel Benta basically ripped off a bunch of sick children off of some money that would be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for medical supplies, and food, etc. And has been banned from ever returning to any future Power Morphicon events, for life. Unless, he apologizes and return what he had stolen. Also, he is a horrible person to follow on social media. So horrible, he makes Andy Dick look like an angel. So yeah, Samuel Benta...Good actor, but a really bad person in real-life. I had no idea! What a horrible thing to do.

There was a youtube video of somebody recording Austin St. John's Q&A panel back in the first PMC convention in 2007 that actually showed Mr. Benta taking one of the banners for himself, while the panel was still going on. You could check it out, but that's as far as I can go.

The whole Benta affair was a little more fuel to the dumpster fire that OO was. But yet, even if it didn't happen, OO probably would be considered a bad season. The plot, characters, villians, half-assed attempt to celebrate the anniversary... only Super Megaforce surpassed the badness. And only was because they took a season which have elements to make an awesome celebration to Power Rangers, heck, Gokaiger serve everything in silver plate, and with little effort and good edition could make a great rendition to the Franchise, and great fanservice, only to give us a half-assed attempt of a half-assed attempt...is outstanding how they failed in that season. It's like you can write an entire book of how they fail to deliver a good season. OO at least have a Once a Ranger and the Mack saga. Not a great acomplishment but it's something. SMF had nothing. They even screwed Up the Legendary Battle. Ninja Steel is bland, cliched, with boring villians but the characters and their dynamic is good. And yet, we're only in the first half. NSt could still deliver good episodes in the 2nd half. Just my two cents.
