The only reason I thought so highly of the movie in the first place, was because it set up the universe so well for a sequel. As a standalone, it just won't work for me. I loved the opening sequence, the mention of the Zeo crystal and whatnot. So much potential. But... we only got like 10 minutes of action. I really don't want it to end like this.

I just don't understand why, after such a strong opening weekend, the movie "fell off" so quickly.

My guess is that this movie is going to lose to Transformers: The Last Knight at the Rasberry Awards.

My guess is that this movie is going to lose to Transformers: The Last Knight at the Rasberry Awards. I don't know? I think Transformers had two good things about it... Anthony Hopkins and Cogsman, PR only had one good thing Billy....... so i think we might be surprised.

Oh yeah. It that the main reason why Hopkins requested that his character, Odin die in "Thor: Ragnorok"?! Only to have more screen time, but to be immediately killed off yet again in another Michael Bay Transformers movie sequel?!
At least he had more dignity and respect in all three Thor movies than in a god-awful Michael Bay Transformers movie sequel.

Eh i figured Hopkins looked at the script for The Last Knight and then proceeded to go on a drug Binge and as a result ended up being high as a kite for the rest of filming.
Not that I would blame him. Lord knows the script for the Last Knight was horrible but I still found him the first likable character in a Bayformer film. Cosman was the first Transformer to get any major screen time and was allowed to have fun.
Meanwhile Saban's Power Rangers the only good thing for me was Billy. A likable kid who wanted to do good. Ya that I can get behind.

So of course the big rumour - which is more likely to happen than not - is that now that Habro owns Power Rangers, they will not do a sequel to the movie from 2017, but instead just do a fresh reboot that they control. Thoughts about it?

If they make it more faithful to MMPR, I'm all for it. Dean made it too different.

I don't know about too different, it works because as a result of what it made different as well as they adhered too. The only thing I would add is delving more into the Rangers' personal lives (because their backstories and character interactions were one of the strongest points of the last movie) as well as developing the action without it coming off as Bayformers like. Honestly the 2017 take was one of my favorite modernized/different takes on the MMPR mythos since the "Teenagers with Attitude" fan film.
*By the way I wanted to say hi, Although this was my first formal post in the new forum, but I used to post in the old form as Mike29758. How are you guys doing?
