Power Rangers Time Force is my 3rd favorite power rangers season. This series gets credit for bringing me back into the Power Ranger fold after skipping Lightspeed Rescue after just the 3rd episode as a kid. The whole arc/theme of destiny and fate was compelling. I loved the actors in this season and their suits. I really love Trip. If you look back through the Power Rangers series as a whole, how many shorter than average men do we get on the show? Since I am only 5'3", seeing a guy on the show who would not be a skyscraper next to me was quite a relief. I see both Jen and Wes as co-leaders in this series. Jen is the leader of that group from the start, but Wes did aid them in finding the clock tower and getting them up to date clothes to actually have them blend in. Speaking of the clock tower, that has to be one of my two favorite sets. (Alongside the MegaShip from "In Space"/"Lost Galaxy") The rangers in this series even commit to taking odd jobs in order to make cash. I personally tend to enjoy seasons where at the end the villains either A.) Become Good, or B.) Get taken in to face their punishment for their actions. In most cases you would expect for the primary villain to get destroyed.
My 5 Favorite PRTF Episodes:
1.) "Future Unknown" (#10)- Once it is quickly realized that their actions have adjusted the future, Katie and the time rangers contemplate what the changes mean for their future. And the thoughts afterward about why they were there. Whenever I watch this episode it just feels absolutely real to me. In this episode, Wes is also quite useful. As the one ranger in his correct time, his thoughts and advice are what allows everyone to believe that what they are doing is right. That they must be there and they must defeat Ransik. Without doing so could spin off even more dire consequences for the future.
2.) "Fight Against Fate" (#29)- (Again, as a soap fan) This episode just spews melodrama and action. Seeing Wes and his father able to reconcile their issues leaves you feeling pretty good. Seeing Jason Faunt alternate between Wes and Alex is quite amusing. As a kid I thought "He sure knows how to grease his hair!" but now when I pay attention I notice that he actually manages to pull off differences between the two. He adjusts his voice and even has a more squared movement when he plays Alex.
3.) "Trip Takes A Stand" (#19)- Between then and now, I am still a sucker for these heart touching episodes. Yes...it is ridiculous that Notacon was imprisoned for stealing vegetables. Since they used that reason, I wished the agency would have just allowed him to be free at the end of the episode. I guess the show wanted to run something like this but could not come up with a good reason for why Notacon would be arrested in the first place. Trip's connection here is moving and standing in between a much more ruthless Eric and Notacon was very gutsy.
4.) "Circuit Unsure" (#36)- Harping back to me loving when rangers are divided up, this episode is another that slides right in along those lines. When the mutant attacks and circuit does not believe he would be of useful assistance, everyone must break into the institute to save civilians, fight the mutant, and stop the self destruct sequence. Katie's super human strength may be crazy to think about at times, but she was able to help keep the steel door from closing and the place from blowing up. Alex keeping Circuit from telling the others about the future sets this episode up as escorting us through to the finale.
5.) "Movie Madness, Part 2" (#25)- I've seen on the fandom where the Movie Madness does not sit very well with most people. But my argument would be: Would you rather have another filler episode? At least with movie madness you get a two-part adventure filled story. We get to see the men in drag, some out of suit fight scenes, and other hilarious moments. The fact this all ends when it is revealed that Trip stole the final page of the script tells a story in of itself. We get to write the own pages to our own stories by how we live our lives. They were able to take the script and write their ending and settle the score. So there was some meaning in this - not just that Jason Faunt looks really ridiculous in a wig. (LOL)
