For over a year, I've read articles, tweets, fake news, real news, speculations and official statements about this endeavor, and no matter how many of it I read, no matter what, Im am completely against this idea of a "Power Rangers Cinematic Universe", and now with it being on Netflix of all places, it reaffirms my stance. Sorry, but as a fan of Power Rangers and tokusatsu in general, I can not and will not support this because I truly believe this is a bad idea, an unnecessary idea, and an unmitigated disaster just waiting to happen.
Why does Power Rangers need a Cinematic Universe? Why does it need to have a Cinematic Universe? From that title alone it tells me all I need to know about how Hasbro sees this franchise. It tells me that this isn't about pushing the franchise to newer and greater heights, it's just another company using another beloved franchise's IP to turn it into something that it's not in a desperate attempt to play catch-up with Marvel. I've said it before and I'll say it again, not every single pop culture franchise in the world can be as big as Marvel.
Another major reason I'm against it because history speaks for itself and there are MORE working against this than for it.
1.Outside writers.
2.Netflix Involvement.
3.Detachment from Sentai.
4.Unnecessary commentary of Real-life.
5.An effort to rip off the MCU.
6. Risk of MCU-like oversaturation.
In closing, My "hot take " is Power Rangers DOESNT NEED A Cinematic Universe, it just needs better writing, better advertising and a better channel (or streaming service) to air the show on and Netflix should be just that, a streaming service to air the show on.

This is the first semi-valid concern youâve brought up but it seens rather premature given what little weâve heard.
I highly doubt theyâre ever going to reach â3-4 films + 4 miniseries per yearâ territory.

Would it matter either way if Paramount Pictures, Entertainment One and/or All-Spark Studios were also involved in the production of a "Power Rangers Cinematic Universe?!" Because I'm pretty sure that they would have a final saying about Netflix's involvement.

You mean like Thor Love and Thunder? or the Halo TV Show? The writers and directors have admitted in interviews that they knew NOTHING about the character's lore, never read any Thor comic books or saw the first two Thor movies and in the end, was an unfunny terrible movie. It didn't need to be a copy and paste from the comics, just capture the essence of the character and they didn't. They turned him into a joke. A company that has a terrible reputation and track record when it comes to adapting ANYTHING if its origins originated in Japan? Death Note, Cowboy Bebop and now Capcom's Resident Evil is proof of that. While Zenkaiger and Donbrothers' design dont set the world on fire, we've already seen what happens when Power rangers break away from Super Sentai, you get disasters like Power Rangers 2017 and the Solar Rangers. No, it's pretty straightforward. People want escapism when watching movies and TV shows and dont want to hear about social/political commentary from either side. True. But it's been also proven that copying the MCU formula is not a good strategy. It didn't work for the Dark Universe and it didn't work DC and so far there's ZERO positive indication that its gonna work for Power Rangers. Last I heard, they were planning multiple movies, TV shows and animation. |

Oh sure Power Rangers usually doesn't (for the most part) but everyone knows you're talking about Izzy from Dino Fury and imagine being that much of a triggered little bitch on the mere existence of a gay character? |

But we've also been in some pretty awful places with the writing, often not because of the writers but still. Some outside writers, people who write action shows for that teen/adult range is absolutely needed if they want this thing to appeal to a broader audience, which they already said they have. Outside writers aren't instantly a bad thing. Change is needed. |

Funny you didn't use Thor from Thor 1, the dark world, Avengers 1, Age of Ultron or Infinity War, because his character was well written proving what I said to be right. You don't tolerate other people's views and you don't see beyond the spectrum of race, gender or sexuality.
